Default Airport Searches

In light of what just happened to Dionne Warwick. do not pack anything illegal in your suitcase or carry on. Put it DOWN you pants, not in a pocket! If your bag is selected to be hand searched and you accidently forgot to take your stuff out, you can refuse to have it searched with NO CONCEQUENCES except that they will not allow you to put that bag on the plane and perhaps not be able to go yourself, but you have that right to refuse!!

I am sure there are many people that would thank you for this tip. But in order to get it infront of as many people as possible, I am going to move this to Protecting Your Rights, where it is more on topic.

I also see you are new, welcome to the fold. Glad to have ya aboard. Take a moment to read the small text underneath the forums, this will do wonders in making sure that when you post, you do so in a place where the most people involved in those types of posts will see and be able to respond.

Peace.

I'm sorry but I do not get why you would ever bring marijuana through an airport terminal. They're LOOKING for the stuff. It's like knowing you're going to get pulled over by the police, and intentionally make sure you have a few grams on you. It doesn't make sense.

I'd urge people to not bring it through any airport terminals, and to just leave it at home. Hell, it's easily obtainable at almost anywhere.

Default Travel

I don't know about everyone else, but it is so important to me that when I travel, most recently to HI and OK, I try to bring ~3 /day. I pack nothing, neither in checked nor carry on. Rolled and in as small and tight a pkg as possible. Wear or carry no metal buckles, etc., take off jewelry, although it doesn't usually trigger detector. I've even taken off my shoes and they've pulled me aside to go through my carry-on computer pack. Unless they pat you down...they won't strip search, either in the pocket or underwear has worked. I have scored in HI, but would rather not if I don't have to, deal with transactions while travelling, although I've found many opptys. It is medicinal to me...don't drink much...my only vice besided cookies and milk...don't leave home without it. I've got some good stories from my past, too.

I hopped on a plane exactly 1 week after the September 11th event and I was suprised by the security I saw. When I moved up to my dads for the month that I was there I completely forgot my Nikes and had worn my steel toes due to the fact that I was taking a bus all the way from mid California to southern Washington, so I figured the added protection going through Oakland couldnt hurt. Anyway, on my way back to California I was taking a plane because my mom didnt want me to take another bus. So when I get up to the terminol I strip myself of anything mettalic except for my boots, when I go through the guy asked me to remove pocket change, ect., but I already had and all I had to do was tap on my boots. So he took his wand to me and there was a beep next to my pocket, I didnt think the foil wrapping in my pack of ciggerettes would set it off, but it did. So I took it out and he just sayd OK, didnt look in it or anything. I could have easily smuggled in a small gun, let alone a knife. I was extremely disappointed, after something so tragic you would think security would be at its best. Point being, marijuana could easily be smuggled on board, but I sure as hell wouldnt do it.

Thumbs up Welcoming all the ideas and new members

Yes ,even in a state of war you have certain rights.I keep thinking that the few rights we do have, from being legally subject to strip search, and k-09'sniffed will soon be a thing of the past.In my opinion,if our social evolution continues to allow the infestation of evil government leaders ,such as ones which use fear to manipulate the will of its people's,we don't have as much going for us as i once thought
IMHO(If you take illegal contraban on any federally governed transport, you are making a foolish mistake.Dionne Warwick is old enuff to know better, and influencial enuff not to have to resort to an action that petty. She obviously forgot she had it b.s.

Default ive posted it before,

FAA is putting 12 machines through trials ..I know orlando is one of those cities using it, that probably uses spectrometer findings to basically electronically strip search/scans each person that goes through it. It not only finds explosives, but will find drugs as well. I hear you can opt out of the machine, but how thorough will they be in searching you when you refuse??

I have said it before, I will say it again. the reward of havin some weed when you land is not worth the punishment metted out as I beleive getting busted in a airport is a federal crime. not a local one? (anyone got two cents on this ? )

leave it home, find it on the road, then youll have some handy when you get home

Bin laden in an interview stated one of his goals in attacking the WTC was to turn the U.S. into a police state. Guess in some ways he succeeded eh?

best to all :waves:

Just for the sake of clarification:

The machines, which have been used in other countries for years, do not legally constitute a search.

The machine is sampling the air around you, which the courts have held for years holds no reasonable expectation of privacy.

Default machines

hey nite, a couple of quick questions. re machines.

a) are these sniffers, much like the sniffers they use on my laptop with the little wiper pad?

and

b) if someone gets busted in an airport, is it a federal offense? or is it up to the laws of the state the airport is in?

i have always thought the above. but it would be good to have it substantiated by someone in the know. .

TIA
best,
D.

Never, ever bring large amounts onto an airplane. For that matter don't bring any.

But, if you're that absolutely in need, here's an effective method if you have access to Canadian cigarettes.

All legal cigarettes in Canada have a plastic packaging with a coloured strip depending on the province. The trick is to peel the strip off without opening the actual plastic wrap. I've done this myself, so I definitely know it works. It was an accident actually, and I had a ***** of a time opening the pack.

After that, use a razor blade to open the plastic seal. Use a ruler to guide the blade, so it can be covered by the plastic "duty paid" line again. Open the cigarette package, and fill with whatever you may need. Close it, put the celophane back on, assuming you took it off in the "box" type shape when pulled off, and put the coloured strip back on. You can use an adhesive if the glue is not sticky anymore on the strip.

There you go, all set, a "sealed" pack of smokes.
