I live right next door to an Elementary school and there is a red sign right outside my house on the other side of the street that reads, "DRUG FREE ZONE, penalty doubled under federal law". Is this just for carrying large amounts (distribution)? If I get busted with an 1/8 of an ounce or a few seeds, will I get in more trouble? I believe in my state, normally it is a $100 fine for first time possession under an ounce.

In some states (I live in Texas, and it's true here), all drug-related sentences are doubled within a school zone. I'm almost positive this includes possesion.

Damn, that's what i figured, just wanted to double check. Looks like I won't be carrying any weed on me while I live at home. If it's a federal law being violated that is alot more serious.

On a side-note, I've always wanted to steal one of those "Drug-Free Zone" signs. Wouldn't that be the coolest addition to a pot-smokin' dorm room? I don't have the balls to do it though. My roommate got raped for having stolen street signs (his friends stole them to give to him, he was moving away).

LOL! That would be a real cool addition, but I'm not sure I would run the risk of the penalty!!
