 Need some help, I've been snaged. I was in North Carolina for the weekend and was caught with an open bottle of alchohal, pipe, and less than an once of weed. From the Norml site, I understand that "< 0.5 oz.: 0 - 30 days, suspended sentence possible" and "Paraphernalia possession or sale: 1 - 120 days." This is my first offense of any kind, and I am from florida. How will these charges compound? Should i get a lawyer? I need some ideas/input/wisdom here, please. Will i be let go on probation, since i am an out of towner? Guy who needs help. | |

You will likely get probation (suspended sentence) because it's your first offence. You need to get a lawyer FROM NC and you need to make sure s/he tells you everything that you need to do. When you get a lawyer, you should be fine. | |

| I agree. Get a lawyer. He'll probably get a charge or two dropped in exchange for a no contest plea. The only effect I can see if having on you in FL is that any points assessed by NC will go on you license in FL.
