what makes people think marijuana will ever be legalized, when you cant even drive your own car without your seltbelt in risk of a ticket.

Driving is a privledge. Everything involved with driving is subject to regulation.

Aside from that, within the past 2-3 years, my state got rid of helmet laws for motorcyclists, a group I've pointed to as an example for mj legalizers to look to, so it's clear things move in trends.
