Ok. Here's the thing, I am 38 weeks pregnet, I got a drug test done today and I know that I am going to come positive for pot. The question: is there any way that the state can try to take my baby? | |

| As far as I know, the answer to your question would be yes. I don't know why you are getting tested (private or government), but a case could be made for, oh I don't know the actual law for your state, but possibly child abuse, negligence (sp?), or something similar. At least, I hope. ![]()

| Studies done in Jamacia have not shown that marijuana use while pregnant causes any harm to an unborn baby. It was actually shown it make if be born heavier, which is a good thing. I'll look for the study.

| Heavier is not always a better thing. If they are too heavy, aside from delivery problems, they often have lower blood sugar levels. |

| i am in no way encouraging it. it was just a study i saw. I would actually advise against it. Not worth the risk, and after 9 months of being clean, you'll get REALLY wasted off the herb. |

| I don't think you should be smoking at that far into the pregnancy, or at all during the pregnancy. Many tests have shown it affects rat embryos still under development, in a negative way. This also applies to young people, who's minds and body are still in development. Your child doesn't have the choice of absorbing THC, but you do. Please, don't make the choice for him/her.
