hey y'all ive got a lil story...my next door neighbor called my mom up the other day and told her how my friends and I were smokin...she didnt see us, cuz we were in my pool (which is drained) and we have a fence.
all she could do was smell it. she said if it happened again she'd call the cops... my parents acted mad (for about a minute) of course because they dont want me to get into trouble...i guess it further compounds this terrible atrocity because, heaven forbid, her kids were in their yard playing, and were exposed to the evil smell!!! anyway, im wondering what course of action law enforcement could take if she did call? we live less than a 1/2 mile from the station, and in a conservative upper middle-class area (central fl) i wouldnt be surprised to see the SWAT team over this i guess the smell gives enough probable cause enter our property? if that happened id run inside... i thank anyone for their insight.

Well, you must have been being pritty noisy for her to hear you and to know it was YOU GUYS who you were smoking. But, it really sux to get caught by anyone. My parents go crazy when they catch me high!

just your neighbor smelling it is not enough for the cops to do anything my advice is if she ever does call the cops put everything up and answer the door if they even come to the door witch they probably wont unless they smell it to, but if they do and they try to come in tell them they cant that they have to have a warrant to come in your house (they need a warrant and smell alone is not enough for a warrant) then tell them some bullsh!t like my neighbor drinks alot and always calls my parents telling them things that she assumes that isnt true then if they keep talkin just say "Gotta go bye" and close the door(your home including you yard is private property they cant be on it without a warrant unless you tell them different

I am not sure what the laws are in Fl. but in Colorado, you cannot go to jail for under an ounce of green. With juviniles things can get different, since most young citizens have much less rights as adults. If cops come to your door, I would say do not even open the door but rather talk through the closed door. I would sujest not lying to anyone even the enemy, which is the cops and anyone that wishes to cage a human for using cannabis. Life or death, then lie. Otherwise, you may get in more trouble for lying, or if caught you may have your trust compromised.

If your under the age of 16 or 18, which is app. the legal smoking age when it becomes legal, then I would suggest not refrain from using cannbis till your of age.

Even more that refraining from cannabis, AVOID cigs. like a heart attach, you may never be able to rid yourself of its addiction!!! Booze is a real life crusher when abused and kids drinking early in life have problems with is later more often?

You will probable want to address that neighbor, but as a youth you are less likely to make the best decission, so AVOID any confrontaiton.

If your able to smoke out of a vaporizer, you may emit less oder and get busted less.

Finally, be honest w/ your parents. If your unable to do that now, make sure you do it when you can. In part, you will force them to know the actual you, which is not possable when you hide your self from them. It will also force them sometimes to see the harmlessness of cannabis, if your responsable.

I used to get high in my living room w/incense burning. When I'd come home from partying I'd tell my mom I was drinking which did ot bother her, but then I got tired of lying in part 'cause I was lying telling her I was doing something worse that smoking pot. I also just did not want to lie to her. I may have also felt like I wanted to show my mother, look I have made a good decission, in avoiding booze and cigs.

I can answer that for you. Up to 20 grams in FL is a misdemeanor, over is a felony. You can go to jail for ANY amount in FL, although a notice to appear is more common.

wow thanks for the replies...I am pretty honest with my parents they know I smoke, and they aren't as ignorant as most of the conservatives around here they just don't want trouble and my Mom is probably all worried about what the neighbors think...My friend has been arrested for misdemeanor possession and would've just received a notice to appear, but they "had" to take him in because he was still a minor (this was 2 weeks before his 18th birthday) Are you sure that the smell alone isn't enough for police to do anything? I know in a car its enough probable cause but I think GotGods may be correct and things might be different when it comes to private property... Maybe my fellow Floridian Niteshift could help me out on this.

As for my take on pot: I don't oppose its legalization. That's about as good as you can expect from me. I won't helpt to legalize it, but I won't stand in the way of your efforts either.

Hmmmmm
Well I started smoking at the age of 11.
Right wrong or indifferent it happened.
Now we were paranoid as all h*ll!
And tended to smoke only in places where we would not get caught.
out in the woods, along a lonesome river etc.
Being much older now, I do not think inors should smke marijuana, but realize they will.
on a windy day the smell would normally be gone before an officer can get to your location.
But here again, the best defense is a bit of caution and some thinking.
If the neighbor has a problem with weed (her good right also) then be courteous and do not give her any more reason to call anyone.
Other than that, as soon as you are 18.
vote the right way and the problem may welll evaporate..
