A group of friends and I ditched school today and went to a park to meet some friends. We were at the park thinking of something to do, when someone lights up a joint. Four of us go to a car and box it. After a few minutes, a cop rolls up behind us and tells us to get out of the car. As soon as we open the door, a bunch of smoke comes out with it us. The cop tells us to sit down and ask us we weren't in school. We told him that we were just going to watch movies in all our classes(we were) and didn't see any point why we needed to be there. Anyways, the cop takes all out i.d.'s and makes us follow him back to school.

This is where the bad **** starts

As soon as we walk into the dean's office, he said he was able to smell it on us. The dean starts to question us one by one and someone admitted to smoking and told everyone else that was smoking with him. Because of that, we all just admitted to it and now we are suspended for five days, going to be put up for expolsion and might be kicked off the football team if I can come back. My question is, because none of us had anything on us when the cop pulled us out(no bud, no pipe, no bong), all he saw was the smoke and he was able to smell it on us. I am being put up for expolsion, is there a good chance that I am going to be expelled? Is there anything that I might be able to do?

Talk to your parents. Be straight with them.

Then get a lawyer. You can find one from your area who is skilled at this sort of situation by going to www.norml.org

Things are pretty bad right now, you screwed up. That does not mean you have to pay for it for the rest of your life -- high schoo life or otherwise.

Take this one day at a time... And I think you should quit smoking for awhile.

It would have been alright if your friend had not confessed. Since the officer did not find anything, you could have just argued about the smell and chances are take a 1 day suspension for skipping class, but because of the confession it makes things more diffucult, but hey if you get a lawyer he might find a way out of it for you .

p.s

I dont even think an officer can search you in that situation.. because he has no reason to suspect you. That may be one way for you to get off the hook.

when i was suspeneded for pot use the second time I told them to expel me, they didn't.
the thing you have to worry about most is your folks

All the expulsion can be for is truancy.... not possession. They have no proof other than the smell.

You should tell your parents about... who knows.... maybe they'll be cool about it. Also, you could say that you weren't smoking it - just in the car with them. Your school sounds like **** though... it's only a bit of dope... anyways, you could go and talk to the head about it and ask why you could be expelled.

Update

Last night I talked to some of my friends who talked to my coaches and they told me that I might not get it that bad. Yesterday, while we were being questioned, we were asked who had the bud in the first place and my friend confessed to it. They said, since he was the supplier, he will probably get it the worse. I'm just praying now that something good will happen to me.

He confessed to trafficing? lol. That wasnt the smartest thing for him to do... When the cop first stopped you did u have any weed on you? Or any on you when you were in the deens office? Because if you didnt you could have all denied it and gotten away free...

This thread is sickening.

First off, you should have been in class. Screw up #1. Reguardless of the fact that you were just going to be watching movies, you had a responsiblity to be there. I don't care if you write notes, daydream, or sleep tbrough the movie, you still should have been in class to begin with. I can see your logic working out well in the real world. "Jeez boss, there was nothing going on at work, so I just was going to skip out for a little bit and smoke myself silly. Your not going to fire me right?"

Screw up #2. For all you think that you know. Divide and Conquer, an ancient strategy thousands of years old, and it still works. Pot smokers are busted all the time with this. The police seperate everyone, and walk in and tell them someone one else confessed to the whole gig and your involvement, so just tell us the truth. Confessing to something based on the word of someone who will benifit from the confession is insane, pure and simple. What ever prevents the response of "Well, it sounds to me like you got him, what am I still here for?" I still don't know. You fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Maybe someone did, maybe someone didn't. Doesn't matter after the confession. Now they are telling the truth, and now they have the details. You just screwed everyone else.

To answer your question though, and all the responses to it.

You were caught skipping class. Not only were you caught skipping class, but you were caught by a cop. Screw up #3. On top of that, you were participating in an illegal activity, and have confessed to doing such. Sounds to me, if there was evidence this was a trend, like there are grounds for one. And it would hardly be unjust, or unreasonable. Make no mistake. Even if you removed the marijuana from the equation, you were still caught by a cop skipping class. It really is impossible for anyone on a discussion board to be able to say, with any remote degree of accuracy, if you will or will not be expelled. As such proceedures are different from school district to district, city to city, and state to state.

All the suggestions for getting a lawyer, how are you going to afford one? Do you have the cash just sitting in the bank, or are your parents going to have to get one for you. This costs them money. You are going to cost your family potentially thousands of dollars just because you wanted to get high? Sickening.

And Abysmal, Skipping class is considered Truancy. Not even factoring in the marijuana.

eYe, perhaps you should consider laying off the weed. anti pointed out the obvious flaws. I have counted at least three screw ups that have nothing to do with weed that they did. I don't feel sorry in the least, and if all that happens is a five day suspention, then they should consider themselves VERY lucky, and never do such foolishness again.

Preferential treatment of athletes is well documented, and in this case, will serve to your advantage no doubt. To bad about those who get caught and don't have that though, huh.

They know this, because everyone lined up and told them. Sounds like these people are good friends of yours, and from these roots lifelong friendships are to grow? Sickening.

This entire situation occured because of a grevious lack of maturity. Could someone please explain to me again why people under the age of 21 should be permitted to smoke pot? That was a rhetorical question, but it gets the point across. We advocate responsible marijuana useage. And this entire thread just smacks of reasons why the Drug Warriors are right.

Thank you for giving everyone one more reason to keep weed illegal.
