| Here is a link for a site that has an ACLU POCKET CARD ON POLICE ENCOUNTERS. http://www.aclu.org/library/bustcard.html It is definitely a good thing to carry no matter what. Cops have taking advantage of my rights in the past so it's very important that everyone learns their rights. Because Cops and even Lawyers will take advantage of anyone that doesn't knwo of their rights. Remember, if you don't know your rights they won't tell you them. They will use every chance they can to take advantage of you. | |

| Banned | Niteshift, I have heard about black families so scared of the police harrassment that turns wrong in the black neighborhoods that mothers have organized and through lawyers (I think) were giving cards to their children to help protect them. It was to help not even have to speak to the police. It was the area that came up with the cliche: driving while black, around D.C. I believe. I'd find it if it was important. It sounded like a good step for those scared black families, since they are targeted way more than the general population. They get killed, imprisoned and harrassed more and those mothers need to do extra to help protect their kids. Could you imagine a population that resorts to that measure? |

| GCW: I can see where people in those kinds of extreme situations might think that is the best way to go. But let me ask you this: Do you think that will actually serve to improve relationships with the police, or will it make it even more of an "us vs. them" environment? Wouldn't working out the problem in the bigger sense be a better solution? Mirage: No, I've never smoked pot. That means I won't be much help about getting around tests. I really don't know a whole lot about them because it has never concerned me. |

Wouldn't working out the problem in the bigger sense be a better solution? Sir, it is extreme. The citizens in those comunities experience blight. They are no longer always going to try to improve the relationship w/ police, over simply protecting their children from abuses that we can point a finger at. Contempt has entered the picture long ago and has gained momentum, along with the additional ills that coincide. The good honest black family in a poor neighborhood almost can not take a chance that all that is stacked against them in our society will not harm thier kids. The war you serve is wicked and that is one of the out comes. Citizens treat police like dishonest people not to be trusted. The prohibition of today is like the prohibition of yesterday w/ booze. Are you aware of the liquer prohibitions effects on police coruption, gang activity, deaths, etc. Let me ask you this, would you like our country to go back to booze prohibition? What are we doing different? |

| GCW, I'm going to have to bow out of this. I had to put down a few ground rules for myself when I started posting here. I won't justify my job. I don't debate legalization. I don't justify the laws. I do answer questions about the law and police procedure and hopefully, once in a while, clear up some misconceptions, myths and misunderstandings. I'll have to humbly back out of this one now. |

| Jr. Member | Ok for all of you that smoke inside your house. Dont Do It Near A Door Where The Cops Can Knock On! Smoke in the basement, or in your bedroom! And Nightshift Dont you ever wonder what it feels like to get high? Dont you feel like your missing out of something? (By the way, you are missing out on a great thing. But thats your choice I was just wondering, so you dont need to answer that if you dont want to, I can see why) Also I was thinking: A cop pulls someone over (one of those a$$ cops you were talking about) and with smelling marijuana smoke being a probable cause to search. Cant any cop search any car they want, with that. How can the cop proove that there was smell? It seems like it just throws our rights into the garbage.
