is aol.com email safe to use as listed on here or GC? not using accurate info on those email servers ofcourse but is any safer than another ? i hear some ppl use yahoo accounts but does it really matter ?

Email is never completely secure unless it's heavily encrypted and sent through a proxy server. If the email can be read and tracked back to your IP address, they've got you. If you want to maintain your anonymity, proxy servers are the way to go. Just about anyone maintaining a mail server will have to hand over records and backups if they're subpoenaed. A good proxy server keeps no records of traffic.

i2p is good for that, but I don't remember if pgp is out of the box or not. That or
xerobank if you have cash to burn.

I'm not familiar with i2p or xerobank, but PGP is readily available and basic functions (encrypting/decrypting text and files) are available for free. PGP is very high level public key encryption. If you want fancy functions, you pay an annual license fee.

Google Mail (gmail) is a reliable mail server with decent encryption. Google also has a great history of not handing over records to the authorities unless absolutely forced to.

Sure, Google services (Gmail included) are pretty secure, but the emails are not secure at all.

I'm not knocking Gmail. I have multiple Gmail accounts that I use for different reasons. The service is great and I've made use of the archiving feature to retrieve something old before.
But that archival system is a double edged sword. Every email you send/received is archived for-friggin-ever unless you specifically go and remove it.

Bottom line:
It's not recommended to discuss anything imcriminating with a GMail account.
