| Well, you really are addressing 2 seperate issues here. 1. Dogs 2. Airports 1a) The dog can and will smell all of that. The real question is, has the smell leaked out of the container enough for the dog to notice it? 1b) Most of this thread is in regards to human interdiction. Safely making it from point a to point b while travelling domesitically (usually in the USA). TSA/LEO is what we are concerned with on these flights. The chances of you coming up close and personal with a DRUG dog are slim. Bomb dog, yea you're gonna see him. If you want to try to beat both the human and canine factors, my really only good suggestion is to handle your bud with gloves, then dispose them gloves before touching anything else, being careful not to touch your bag. Double vacuum sealing this within a few hours of leaving for the airport, then shoving that little bundle right down your pants. You can wrap it up if you want this concealment is really up to you. Just make sure you can sit/stand/take shoes off without looking like you DO have something shoved down your pants. However, i'd say you are REASONABLY safe when flying domestically from a drug dog, as they just aren't hanging around most airports especially small outstations. Wrapping your bud up nice and good, and crotching it w/out vacuum packing is just fine. Remember, what you are doing is currently ILLEGAL in the USA. Is it fair, of course not. But its what we have to live within right now. Be safe, Be smart. Quote:

| Do you think that a dog could smell weed through a vacuum sealed bag inside a bag? Anyways, the best way to find out the best way to smuggle is to get a bag full of something legal, herbs or something, and put it in your bags, spread a little pot smell on a shirt, smellin like pot isnt illegal. And go on the plane. One of us is bound to take a flight soon, try it, I will. |

| You do know that you can be flagged in the reservations system if TSA wants you to be. Hassles for the rest of your life or until they remove you.. which sometimes is the rest of your life. And to answer the vacuum seal, yes if the bag was properly handled, no trace on the outside, the dog will EVENTUALLY smell the weed. Smell will be contained for a little while, how long, who knows. If you double or triple vac it, you increase your chances that this timeframe is longer than the travel time of said package. |

| I've been doing this for thirty years, domestically and internationally. Internationally, at first -- and more out of paranoia than anything else -- I did the tighty-whitey method. Single tighty-whitey, that is, with as much as an ozer keeping my johnson company. This was back in the early 80s. Worked fine, of course. I've flown internationally since 9/11 and have simply folded up a single ziplock (probably never containing more than 3 g., tops) inside a thick, rolled-up sock, whose traveling companions were a few other rolled-up/balled-up socks. I've done this several times in both checked and carry-on luggage -- and while traveling to Colombia of all places -- without incident. The sniffing dogs are, IMHO, overblown paranoia. I've also flown domestically since 9/11 with a couple of joints buried in the back of a pack of smokes. I put the pack in the small accessory tray that follows or precedes the carry-on through the x-ray and have never had a problem. However, I have not flown for two years. My fear now is that things have ratcheted up in the interim, at least as far as x-raying carry-on and checked luggage and, of perhaps greatest concern, one's own person. The tighty-whitey method has always the best fallback when one felt paranoid. But my concern now is not (nor has it ever been) the dogs, but rather these new x-ray machines that screen your person and essentially virtually strip you naked. So my question is: Has anyone done the tighty-whitey method in the face of these things? And what did you use? Just a ziplock? Yours in his 35th Anniversary of Smokedom, Thunderlungs King of All Bongsmen |

Nice post. We always need experienced travelers to help with the info. The issue with putting it in your luggage is the human factor. Some luggage is searched by hand, and when they find your special sock, it is proof they might have found a bomb. The inexperienced traveler's over-emphasis on drug dogs is telling of contemporary threat assessment by stoners. As far as backscatter machines are concerned, there is only one location in domestic service at this time (PHX) and sources indicate that the units are working well; but that contraband in the private parts is not being entertained. Searches are limited to prohibited items. A baggie is apparent in the training displays, according to my sources, but persons who elect the backscatter machine are self-selecting and likely not carrying MJ. The limit might be in what is good for the airline business. If persons choose to travel by means other then the airline industry, airlines would suffer, and pressure the TSA to lighten up - on a local outstation level very effectively. | |

| Keep your bud on you..dont be putting it in things that are going to go through an Xray machine...thats just asking to get caught. I flew to St maarten last week and was just fine with a nice sack in my shorts pocket underneath my jeans. It works every time for me ![]()
