| Here's another travelin' with 420 update... TAMPA: I flew out of Tampa, FL during Spring Break week a few weeks ago. Even though it is a small airport and I think the "tightie whitie" method would work just fine, I would have been nervous bringing any weed with me through this airport. Just felt like the TSA screeners were really looking for anything suspicious and I was traveling alone and feeling a bit more under scrutiny. I saw some kind of scanners there that I didn't recognize -- but they were not in use. Think maybe they were another type of "regular" scanners because I know the IonScanners are enclosed and the ScatterBack is only in Phoenix right now.... Let me stress that the Tightie Whitie method would have probably worked just fine at this small airport -- if you can keep your nervousness level down. Smoking weed before going to this airport contributed to my paranoia! The lessons remain clear and consistent: Just don't go to the airport stoned, dress well and keep the weed on your body (e.g., Tightie Whitie method) and you'll be fine. If you are considering stashing your weed using any other method (secret compartments in key chains, peanut butter sandwiches, stuffed in a sock) you are immediately placing yourself at risk. |

| I'm flying from the US to an undisclosed location in Europe (EU/Schengen) with a long-ass layover in Amsterdam. My dream flight, really. I'll have half a day to sample the wares in the coffeeshops, but I'd really, really, really like to bring some weed with me from my layover to my final destination. I've read lots of the posts on this thread, and my plan, that I hatched before I logged in here, seems to me to be doable. Kinder Eggs. Know them? They're all over Europe. A hollow chocolate egg with a little plastic container inside with some silly toy or another, about the size of a small walnut. Tightly packed, I'm sure I could get an 1/8 into one. Or a quarter into two. Being a gay man, I have zero issues with ... shall we say, reverse swallowing a couple of those little plastic things for the few hours until I get to *****. I would take precautions like avoiding being in a totally smoked out placed that would leave me reeking. I would scrub my hands after handling the pot (and my bum) with strongly scented soap. I would tape up the little containers themselves. I would not be totally stoned by the time I returned to the airport. I would dress nattily, and I don't have long hair. I'm middled-aged and not at all "the profile." So, what do you think of my plan? It seems pretty low risk to me. The main reason I want to do it is that I have few connections where I'm going, and I know the person I'm visiting has never had anything like the good weed I can get in Amsterdam. |

| Flying Cincy to West Palm on Friday for Spring Break. I'm in the great debate of what to do to get it down. I've heard its best to take it on you and then I've heard checking it is the way to go. To anyone who has recently traveled domestically, what was security like? Did you carry-on or check it? We have roundtrip tickets booked with SkyMiles so hopefully our tickets will not be flagged. Any suggestions, tricks, or anything for that matter would be greatly appreciated.

| I don't mind saying it again, Ninfan77. Attention Spring Break Travelers: Never put MJ in your luggage, checked or carry-on. Always keep it on your person, preferably close to your private parts. I recommend the "whitey-tighty" or "granny panties" for ease, security and access. Wear two pair of underwear and place the bag between them - besides you will have a spare pair when they loose your luggage. I am speaking of domestic air travel and not recommending international smuggling. I've noticed a recent trend to suggest that how you look might impact your odds. I strongly disagree. While dressing appropriately is appreciated by your fellow passengers, who have no choice but to travel with you, it is one of the least of many profile factors used by the TSA. I have spent countless hours watching the screening process - it is sort of a hobby of mine - and have observed that passengers are selected for secondary screening based on one of three basic criteria. The first is triggering the magnometer, the second is finding contraband in carry-on luggage, and the third is the random selection necessary to maintain the TSA dog and pony show to look like they are busy. One more thing, Spring Break Travelers; consider exercising the same restraint for carrying MJ in your destination city as you do traveling through airports. In a week or so we will get a half dozen threads from folks who employed great effort to avoid detection to get on an airplane, only to be busted in their car after they got there.

| Dont forget, that dressing nice will allow you get you bumped into 1st class if available. Jeans are not "dressing nice". However, i would disagree with Bart re: dressing nice vs odds of being found out. While TSA doesn't have the motivation or "time" to look at every person who comes through, if you are dressed in all black, chains, skater wear, dead head tie dye... they WILL form an opinion about you. More than likely the sheriff/LEO sitting near the checkpoint will watch you prior to entering the TSA checkpoint. Possibly increasing your chances of being busted. While dress is not a primary profling tool for TSA, it is one for law enforcement. Well, i should say, the narrow minded law enforcement i've had the dubious pleasure of working with while on duty at the airport. |

| i just joined to participate in this discusion. i apreciete what bart and nin are saying about better to have it in your drawers.i would never bring it in my luggage. my problem is i have to do a lot of international travling. my back pains are so bad that on long trips , i have to have the baked goods in hand. i will be taking an international trip soon. they will have a sniffer where i will get on the plane, i used to do the in the drawers. i beleive they will be sniffing drugs . so i dont intend to carry in there. but, baked goods? how can they bust you for something baked? how could they analise it on the spot? somebody mentioned peanut butter sandwiches would bust them. how? not the peanut butter jar, yes, you will get busted trying to get that through. but, even if a dog sniffs you and gives the signal, what are they going to do if the peanut butter has been mixed with mj butter, and, mixed in well. i wont give any other tricks because like you all have said, they are watching too. but, it seems the international speed bumps are sniffers on the way to the plane, examine packedges, my baked goods have always passed these, and collect the bags, get ready for customs, and, maybe dogs... they dont let food stuffs in the states, at that point its in my pants pocket...i havent seen dogs yet at customs inspections, only a beagle sniffing bags his hight.ive had my bags looked at various times it for sure is all a risk, but, local flying is risky also, if they happen to have the drug dogs waiting at one local stop. i have taken this risk many times, but, certainly welcome the diolougue here. my next trip will be facing the machine sniffers on the way out...i asume they never put your handbags in there since they inspect them yes, i know it would be more inteligent to not take the risk, but, the physical pain i suffer while flying long distance is unbearable...i really need it during the flight. before is not long enough |
