Smell isn't the primary issue. It is the fact that the TSA can randomly hand-search your checked luggage. You'll know that they did because they leave a nice little note on top and your clothes are all rumpled, as TSA monkeys tend to be shitty packers.

You learn quick!

Vacuum-sealing is the best idea, but certainly not foolproof.
Multiple baggies for the crotched stash is the best route, really. If you need to, put a dryer sheet in the outer-most baggie.

I just wanted to thank you folks for the advice in this thread. I have recently moved but dont have a new connection in my new state and fly back and forth often for business and had been pondering what to do. I got lucky by luggaging it once, but I am definitely following the obviously expert advice posted here from now on and crotching it.

A friend and I will both be flying to Chicago in a few days. I'm kind of sketching out about bringing any ganja, but my friend is almost adamant about it (he's getting $200 if he smokes every day for 2 months). I really don't want him to get into any trouble, but he's bringing weed regardless of what I say. Would it make that much of a difference if I convinced him to smuggle it in a slightly more odorous hole, rather than just taping it to his thigh, etc?

I mean, I was assuming that it would mean a huge reduction in the chance of him getting caught if he were to get patted down or anything like that, but then I realized that security is definitely aware that people have been sticking things in the out door. As far as reduction in risk goes, is it worth the slight discomfort?
