somebody confirm the scanners blur out the private parts?

Would it be safe to hide weed under my NUT SACKS

Both LAX and JFK are scheduled to get the backscatter x-ray that has been tested in Phoenix for the last year - and the TSA is also introducing the Millimeter Wave scanner that is similar to the backscatter machines.

These are used in secondary screening and it is optional, you may elect to undergo a pat-down search if you wish, which is what I would do for the whitey-tightey method.

While I try to remain patient and respond individually, certain things are so silly that it is hard to address the questioner without some sarcasm - questions about the shampoo bottle method, sticking it up the bum, swallowing a condom or flying internationally are some examples of repeated questions that are just silly to ask, again and again.

And the concept that airports are dragnets for MJ with drug dogs used on domestic passengers . . . that one is the silliest. Good travels.

The scanned images in that link are fuzzy and so are the other links I've seen.

In your opinion do you think they will be able to see a sack of weed behind my sack of nuts?

also pervert said that the scanned images will have the private parts blurred out. Is this true?

Yes, your bag of weed would be seen - however backscatter x-rays are blurred for privacy. A google image search will provide a number of example photos.

Again, both these devices are elective - you need not go through it and can simply have the same-old pat-down search that will not involve your whitey-tightey's.

but I'd imagine a person would look suspicious if he declined a scan and opt for a pat down. or not

If the private parts are blurred for the viewing TSA agent, wouldn't it be better to do the scan?

To our general audience, I would remind you that the travel industry is very dependent on us business types doing exactly that - traveling. I can accept that we must carry our weed discretely but the day they stop any personal-use amounts from going from Point A to Point B, the traveling public will make it hurt for the airlines.

Finding an alternative is easy - FedEx your luggage (UPS is more difficult).

flew on april 5 and the 9th,
coming back from wi,
my carryon seemed wierd to them,
(I had a plane delay and this was my second time threw, first time i had no problem)
well they said magazines and batteries look like a bomb in a certian angle.
but the agaent was like somethings wrong with the seams in her bag.
pated me down like there were drug chrcking and went threw everything, wouldnt let me take my jacket off, and i did have on flipflops, but i still had to take those off. but i did have a drug on me, another hippie drug besides weed, and they didnt fin it. but I dont know.
then the plane got delayed again, so we left to go smoke, went back through and no one said a thing.

i went though different lanes each times.

just dont take alot, id do an eight.

i've chickened out these last few years, but as i'm older & don't really resemble anyone's stereotype of a stonur, i'm sticking it in my crotch and assuming the best -- nobody wants to feel an old guy's crotch, believe me.

the scariest potential moment i've experienced? the TSA guy kept looking at my ticket & ID as i was going thru the metal & finally said, "are you ___?"
"um ... yeah."
"did you go to XX high school??
"yeah?"
"i'm _____________!! we went to high school together!"
