Wow, I like to take a toke as much as anyone, but I cannot believe some of the post's I read here. I fly alot and let me tell everyone something; those idiotic, Gustapo TSA are really enjoying their job. They basically are not very smart and are usually on the lower end of wage earners. To them, most people flying are in a different economic class than they are. A lot of them get pure enjoyment searching and busting people. If you have a family, nice job, etc. why the heck would you chance losing it all? You get an arrest record, your family and employer will probably find out about it. Write down the pros and cons and it will be a no-brainer. I wish you the best, but IMHO, I'd never take it on ANY flight ANYWHERE.

Well, with the way I suggested to carry weed on plains, there's little chance the TSA goons will find it. That is, unless they begin conducting extremely invasive strip searches or pat downs, neither of which is likely, as it would lead to law suits.

Wear tighty whities. Stick your bag in there. Unless you plan on getting strip searched, it's the best spot. Last time I flew, they checked shoes--very well. Hustler's hiding spot: tighty whities. Unless it's unsecure, that bag isn't going anywhere. Plus, a pat search ... they aren't going to be massaging your genitals. Just keep your stuff clean (haha) and be careful.

My question is: Is it common for domestic airports to have drug detection dogs on patrol? I've never seen them, ever, when I've flown domestically. Anyone with cognizant experience in this matter?

Disclaimer: Best idea is to not carry drugs anywhere. Keep it at home. Smoke it all before going home. Be paranoid. I've seen the easy pop a million times, don't let it be you getting popped by that sharp officer. Keep it safe.

I just got back from traveling to Viet Nam.

Atlanta to LAX

LAX to Incheon

Incheon to Saigon

[insert excellent time here]

then back in reverse order when I returned.

I took nothing with me - no weed, nothing remotely resembling a weapon - but was NEVER searched or scrutinzed at all.

Even in VN the customs guys looked at my papers closely, looked at the passport photo like I guess one is suppsed to, and waved me on.

I do think my bags still glow from all the x-raying they got, but I saw not one dog and my bags were never opened.

Homeland Security/TSA was a joke. A massive effort in closing the door after the cows have fled. Mostly it made people nervous but it was just a veneer of attitude.

They are MOSTLY interested in knowing if you have any money or profitable items to tax.

One security guy asked where I had been, raised an eyebrow, and asked why I had gone there. I initially said "fun" and this was a wrong answer. I hen said "Tourism" and this was somehow better.

Then he suggested I was traveling a little light, having just 2 carry-on bags.

"Viet Nam is warm, sir..... I didn't need a coat".

And off I went.

I still think marijuana is a bigger priorty than "terror".

Default flyin from NY JFK internationally to Seoul Incheon

SO I've read many of the interesting and insightful opinions from all of u.

I'll admit that I am leaning towards agreeing with those who feel carrying on the person (hidden by crotch) is the best way to go, but making sure not to set off the metal detectors by taking off all metal objects, shoes, belt, etc.

However, i am interested if any of u has ever seen dogs sniffin around at international departures at JFK or better yet if you see any at arrival in asian airports like Incheon. Isnt customs a *****?

I know i can always chuck the stuff if i see any dogs, but was just wondering any experiences u may have had?

THKS

ALSO, do any of u know the usual procedure for arriving in a foreign country as a US citizen?

Is it first baggage claim, then customs? And at customs what do they usually do? they just check ur passport right? No body searches or nothing ?

Are you kidding? Anything goes at customs - especially in the far east.
You are not exempt from a body search in customs. It can be at random or based on your behavior. I've never had a body search, but I've had my entire luggage emptied out in front of me (in Zurich and it was pre-9/11) and questioned about the various junk I was carrying. I think they sometimes just ask goofy questions about your stuff to see if you get nervous and to make a spectacle so that if someone in line is a smuggler, they might get nervous as well.
If you are lucky enough to breeze through, they just will look at your passport and let you through. A few questions about what you are doing there is the norm (business or pleasure? how long to stay? did you bring any foods/drinks, etc.?)
Depending on the country, you may or may not see your luggage before customs. In Seoul, I vaguely remember that you go through customs first- then you get your luggage (which might have already been searched).
Although I know it gets done often, I wouldn't risk carrying anything overseas - just not worth it.

Default Newbie Question

First I would like to say a warm and sincere Hello to this nieghborhood of fellow tokers.

Second is that i have a question:

Every Summer I fly from Tampa, FL(home of the LIGHTNING) to Newark,NJ
to work at a summer camp. My plan of action was to make a batch of cookies( about 24 or so) from some mid-grade buds and put these in a famous amos cookie bag and then put that bag in my carry on, along with some milk. I was also planning on taking an eigth of some dank bud, and possibly putting it in my boxers. I know you can get buds in Newark, but the camp is located in Honesdale PA which is home of the seediest(word?) marijuana i have ever seen. Also if i did not decide to fly with the high-grade, i was possibly thinking about a friend shipping me some, via batches of cookies. I need a means so that i might stay on my proper threshhold whilst i am in the Poconos for the entire summer. Thank you for any input and it is all viewed with respect.

you all are going to look real funny when that big ol german shepard guard dog has his nose stuck up your ass with his teeth clamped down on your nuts while you are trying to smuggle weed in your underwear.
