The candle idea would deffinately fall under putting suspicious things in your carry on, which is not a good idea.

Ok, I guess I should clarify myself: If I vacuum pack the stuff, put it in a hollow tampon, should I be OK if I run into a security dog? Last time I went to Cali I don't remeber even seein any but I don't know how the security is now considering that was two years ago.

O, and the candle thing, I was going to put it in my normal luggage.

It might work, but do you really want to bother vacuum packing it in a tampon? I have never seen a dog at security, and and going the vacuum pack route just seems like a bunch of extra work when there's a chance that a dog could smell it anyway.

Unfortunately, they do sometimes have dogs sniff the normal luggage before it goes on the plane, and I believe it is also x-rayed. Not a good idea.

Might work, but it seems alot riskier than other options.

I'm thinking of bringing a small amount of weed with me on a domestic flight.I think that the federal government has jurisdiction because I'd be traveling between states.
I can't find any information about federal penalties. Does anyone know of a source for this information? thanks.

when i came back to the us from amsterdam, they had two dogs sniffin out everyone before we even got off the plane. even busted one guy.
but then again, thats comin from amsterdam, about the most obvious weed smugglin destination.

OK, I just traveled overseas during the holiday season after flying to puerto rico from philadelphia. I did the method of taping the bag to my boxers and it worked like a pro. On the way back I got chosen as a random search person and since I had weed on me I had to ditch it in the bathroom.

What would happen if one was caught trying to board a domestic flight with weed (enough for 5-6 joints)? Say you taped the bag to your boxers and you are over 21 y.o.

You would be put through a humiliating experience initially dealing with the nice folks ( and cops ) at the airport , an experience that I'm sure you would like to avoid in the future . Then , depending on there mood , you would be prosecuted accordingly , and airports have a different set of rules , they are under federal law , not state . So there laws are not the same as your state laws , and are normally more harsh about drug smuggling on plains . You wouldn't want to go through it , please , trust me on this one . The feds don't look kindly towards pot smokers , even if its only 2 joints .

I have been popped for weed in my coffee, packed in my luggage. I was asked to return to the ticket counter and a sheriff was holding my coffee. He asked if it was mine - and remember you are asked if you packed your own luggage, or did anybody give you anything to carry - so I fess up immediately. It was found in a hand search because the X-ray machine was down.

He was very kind, took me to a back room and wrote a ticket, did a routine check on me and then complained about the TSA having nothing better to do than find pot. He clearly told me out on the street he would have dumped it and said good-bye. He then told me to NEVER pack it in my luggage, to put it in my underwear. He was really cool about it, but I was embarassed.

Point of Order: Airports are NOT under federal jurisdiction, where did that come from? Local Governments own them and operate them; you are going to get a local citation for possession - mine cost $310.

And Dogs sit down when they detect drugs - it's called a passive response.
