| One last ?, Can dogs smell brownies? If the dog tried to sniff my brownies I think I'd just feed it to 'em and tell 'em the dog was just after my snacks. hehe. Not really, I think getting animals high is wrong. Plus I'd probibly go to jail for trying to poison a police dog with chocolate. But really, ya'll think they could smell them? ![]()

| I have several questions and I have read the entire (yes all 54 pages!) thread. I'm talking about domestic flights. Will be traveling with 3 adults, & a child, one of the adults (straight and narrow). Wifey thinks I'm crazy and it isn't worth the risk to do the tighties thing. Plan on bringing it already to be rolled about a J or 2's worth-not much. Any experience with DTW and dogs? Flying around the holidays so is security more/harder? When I get off the plane (5hr. flight) should it still be in my tighties? Or can I take it out after security checks? Not too sure about what would happen when I arrive in the other airport regarding dogs, etc. What would happen if I were to get caught? Will I be taken to jail for that small of an amount or written a ticket and still be able to board? That's my biggest concern. What is the whole search entail? Is it a strip search? Can they do a strip search? Flown before in the past, so I'm not inexperienced, but never carried with me and this will be my 4 year olds first flight. I think my "look" might call attention to me. I will be in casual attire since the trip will be so long. My brother who looks alot like me just flew out of DTW and was asked to take off his shoes, socks, etc. so I'm getting paranoid here...kinda starting to think it's not worth it after all I have read. The dogs worry me, not the TSA. I could end up ditching it for a patrol dog. So please enlighten me as to the difference and how to tell the difference between dogs (bomb, drug & patrol). The other questions mentioned above I would like to know as well. Anything to help with great detail would be greatly appreciated. I have thought of millions of ideas on how to hide it but won't since I have read the luggage/carry on idea is a no-no. A huge thanks to all who have contributed to this thread, we appreciate you and your time!!! |

| When I travel, I roll it and carry the joints in a couple of baggies, in my socks. I wear 2 pair of socks and that seems to work fine for me. It is only domestic travel that I do this. When overseas I seek out a local.

| SMS72 That's a bit strange that your brother was asked to take his socks off on a domestic flight. MAybe they suspected him of something. But anyway, I don't anticipate you having to take off your undies, or your pants for that matter, so crotch it. And actually, traveling with a four year old will work to your advantage. Just make sure to dress responsibly and don't look grungy or anything. As for once you're off the place on the other side, you have nothing to worry about with a domestic flight. Nothing at all. Good luck.

| Yes, my brother and his boss were asked to take their shoes and I believe their socks too (flying into FL). I didn't want to make my brother suspicious sp.? as to why I was asking him about security and their procedures so he didn't get to detailed with it and being that I suffer from short term memory loss I can't recall exactly all that he said and of course I don't wanna ask again. I don't have the "grungy" or "gothic" look going on, nothing against those that do dress that way though. I guess I'm being anal about all this and still am unsure if I will do it for such a small amount, there's always alcohol. A huge thanks to all those that responded, I really appreciate you taking the time to write. |

| I travel 38 weeks a year, and I have never seen someone have to take their socks off. The only reason I don't stipulate using your socks is because after the shoe-bomber, the TSA was very particular about shoes. Likewise, some women sneak explosives on an airplane in Russia under their bra, and the TSA gets all nasty about the push-up cup. But there is merit to this angle - in my work I must wear Steel-toed boots, and those size 10's are heavy and bulky - I would wear them on travel days rather than pack them in my luggage, which is much more efficent. So I always take them off, place them on the x-ray conveyor, then put my boots back on in the sceening area. (Note - I use this "shoe" ruse to study the TSA screening, sometimes it takes me a really loooong time to put my shoes on . . . in the heart of the lion) Do I still get pulled into the secondary search area? Rarely and then it is because I forgot some other metal item, chewing gum wrappers come to mind. So if you prefer the sock location, just be proactive and take your shoes off and run them through the x-ray machine, telling those family members around you that the metal do-hiccys might set the magnometer off; be clean of any other metal and go for it. Using your socks isn't a bad tactic; but if (when) they do a secondary search it is very accessible unlike your crotch. I would rather defer to the area of my body that will really take some effort to inspect, and to which I can mount a protest and get all rightous and indigent. Personally, I demand that my crotch can only be searched by a Playboy Bunny with velvet gloves and that my lawyer must bring the baby oil . . . oh, nevermind. Dogs are not generally used in the domestic travel. Do not plan your tactics around dogs - rather, plan on human intervention and detection. After clearing TSA Screening, you could go to the restroom and remove your baggie, placing it in your carry-on but a neighboring traveler might think you are up to no good and report you. On two occasions I have had a teminal re-screening scenario; a security breach required all passengers to leave the terminal and be re-searched upon second entry - I would have been screwed for restoring my baggie if I had removed it. Suddenly and unexpectedly, they move everybody into a holding area and run you through the system again because somebody was asleep at the wheel, ummmm . . . X-ray machine. Just keep it in your personal hiding spot until you arrive at your destination - which is why I don't do anything other than a baggie in my whitey-tighties. Joints are added value, and would become a source of worry so that you don't break them. I do the soda can thing on the other end of my daily travels; but Papers are discreet and not hard to hide, so roll 'em if you got 'em, at the other end. For me, the primary issue presented in your post was keeping it on the down-low from the family member - using a private area below your bathing suit lines is really best to keep it a private matter - which is really what smoking MJ is all about for me, a private matter. Good Travels. |

| Customs scrutinizes everything coming back from Jamaica. What you're suggesting is a really bad idea, unless you'd like to spend some time in a nice, cozy federal prison.
