glagla, that's horribly incorrect advice. The dog would think, "the coffee is from Bogata, the cannabis is a sativa dominant from Sonoma County, California, the potato chips are from Idaho, USA...mmm, potato chips...oh shit I'm drooling again." Then the dog would alert and you'd be on your way to the pokey, and yes the dog gets the chips.

Now assuming you somehow didn't cross paths with the sniffer dog, don't you think that can of Pringles would look fairly queer when the x-ray monitor guy looks at it? Have you seen how detailed the airport monitors are nowadays? Color and everything.

you're right, that would look weird under the x-ray but the whole point of the pringles can is that you can carry it with you so it won't get scanned. and trust me on the smell thing, it's a proven fact that dogs can't smell through coffee.

1) You can't carry a pringles can in hour hand through security. Maybe you could stuff it down your pants and the security people would assume you were happy to see them, but I doubt it.

2) It is not a proven fact that dogs can't smell through coffee. Good thing there are almost never drug dogs near security or domestic gates (but if you flew often or knew how to get pot on a plane, you'd know all this).

bartsimpson has said a number of things on this thread that have me wondering. First, I can't find anything to suggest that domestic luggage is being routinely scanned at the majority of airports.

Second, bartsimpson gave a statistic that something like 29 out of a 1000 people were busted by the TSA for pot, and I can't find anything like that. My local airport, which is not a terribly big one, services something like 30,000 passengers per day. That'd be a bit under 800 people a day being busted, just at my local airport.

Bart, can you back up these claims you've made?

I was wrong about the dogs smelling weed inside a body cavity - and TM42 took me to task appropriately. But I would be happy to help, lovecraft.

So you have never seen those big x-ray machines in airports. You go to the ticket counter, get your ticket, and depending on the configuration for that airport you either deliver your luggage to a nearby TSA station and the luggage is scanned in your presence, or the ticket agent places it on the conveyor belt and it is scanned in the bowels of the luggage facility. Luggage is scanned for every domestic flight, and if the x-ray machine is down, it is hand searched. A certain precentage are swabbed for explosive residue as well. I'm not sure what reference you desire other than anyone who has flown has experienced those x-ray scanners, but the TSA's own website states this goal of screening all luggage.
I cited an article from my hometown newspaper related to contraband found by the TSA at my local airport. I did not post it here, as I have related too much personal information elsewhere to risk being personally identified. Basically put; knives, guns, hazarous materials (lighters) and pot are included. If the TSA finds MJ in your luggage, they will insist that you be cited so that they have the statistical proof that they are doing their job.

Not sure what you consider the terribly big ones, but 30,000 passengers a day is way up there. Only 25 airports in the world handle more passengers than your dinky hometown. But your fallacy here is reductio absurbium - if 1 in 5, then 100 in 500, or soforth. Statistics mean nothing when you personally get busted, and that is why I am here. To help prevent others from the embarassment I suffered when the TSA found my little stash in my coffee. Do not place MJ in your luggage, checked or carry-on - but you risk very little in putting it in your underwear.

Don't believe me? Take a risk and ignore my advice. It is obvious to anyone who flys domestically that all luggage is scanned and people are getting busted for contraband. I take it you do not fly much?

i live in vegas any amount of green is a felony regardless of age. resin on a clip is considered a felony. I have friend who comes down from reno and always just puts it in her panties and hasnt been caught yet. however if you see the drug dog's ( fly to vegas every month and havnt seen one in 15 years) you may want to get rid of it. on your body is best, not in something tht may be screened.

former flight attendant, dont put it in your suitcase and the shampoo bottle idea is really stupid. huge flag under x-ray maching when they see shadow of somthing inside a bottle. if you are going to take it with you carry it on you. you dont go through xray
