Your rant, aplogy or not, was inaccurate, off-base, and full of errors. Cops do NOT work on a "quota" system. They have basically been declared illegal thoughout the US, and I'm guessing you'll NEVER find proof of a single department requiring a certain number of arrests in a certain time frame. AS far as fitness levels go, MANY departments REQUIRE certain physical fitness requirements. Some don't. However, you'll find fat and out of shape people in nearly every line of work. Singling out cops as being more likely to be fat is a gross generalization, and not completely accurate by any means. You think you have the life of the average cop all figured out because of your limited observations and interactions with them. Sadly, you aare so far off base that its not even funny. You have a preconcieved idea of what cops are like, and because of that, it colors how you see the cops you encounter in your day to day life. Someday, you'll get your rebelious, anti-authority sentiments out of your system. Maybe, just maybe, you can actually see the cops from an undistorted viewpoint then. Right now, you are so far off base as to be completely rediculous. You say some of these things yoiu know as "fact". Well, facts can be proven, so feel free. In the meantime, keep in mind your limited, biased observations of a tiny number of police officers cannot possibly reflect the reality of the other thousands of police officers in the US or worldwide, so maybe making such broad generalizations isn't the most intelligent choice to make.

Maybe you are right, but much of what I said came from what a respected Brooklyn cop who openly admits to racism and prejudice, unlawful searches (many people do not know about their rights...and can't afford a lawyer), prioritizing easy tasks to difficult once (going after kids with beer on beaches rather than going to black projects to see who shot who), and even planting illegal substances when it comes down to lawyers (he hates lawyers).

When talking directly to a cop people show respect out of fear and just basic human respect, but when no cops are present even your people in 40s (middle class, middle-upper class) absolutely despise police for that type crookedness. They are not rebellious and they don't even do anything illegal, but still maintain the same opinion.

I wonder if cops know that after that nice lady says "Oh hell officer, how are you today, would you like a cookie?" she also says "F*ck the police!" when he leaves.

And why call me rebellious? I don't think kids smoke weed to piss off cops... really stupid once maybe.

Again, how does your experiences with ONE COP give you the right to make broad generalizations about an entire profession? Like I said, you claim many of these statements atre "facts", and like I said, facts can be proven, and I've yet to see any proof. Also, as much as you want to believe everyone shares the same anti-police sentiments that you do, thats not really the case. most people respect MOST cops. yes, theres going to be the occasional bad apple that isn't worthy of respect and is a complete asshole, but, to be honest, such cops are the exception and not the rule. in my 30 years, I'v e encountered many cops encompassing many different situations. I've been bot the person in trouble, and the person calling to police. I've had people arrested, and been arrested myself. Some cops have been nicer than others, but only one cop has every completely disregarded the law in my personal experience.

I'll add to my friend TM42's post.

What is the alternative to having Police? Who will protect the weak and defenseless? How many times have you stuck your neck out in protecting others?

Monarch, you are young and naive. You like to debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, and love the strawman argument, but frankly we have to have police and the rule of law.

And of late your examples are clearly bovine scat - pulled from the fantasy that there is no oversight and review of police procedures. My guess is you have no clue how a Grand Jury works. I can give you much better examples of police and prosecutor foul play (Duke lacrosse players - can you even fathom being falsely accused of rape and Nifonged?), but we have no other choice than to have Law Enforcement.

It's not perfect, but it is essential to our way of life.
