| I was raided mid December and they found a little over 2oz of weed and a scale. I live in California around santa monica. My lawyer is doing her thing and says everything should be ok. What are you guy's opinion on the matter in relation to other similar cases on the outcome? |

| What's a "Hobbs Seal"? It doesn't show up on a Google search. In California, possession of more than an ounce is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and up to a $500 fine (+court costs). If this is a first offense, you'd probably get probation. Did they confiscate the scale? If it's considered to be paraphernalia, that's a separate charge carrying a $200 - $300 fine. If you're under 21, they'll suspend your driver's license for a year. If you tell us the exact charges brought against you, we might be able to be of more help. Since you have a lawyer, she can tell you a lot more than we can. She's familiar with the particulars of the case and with how things go in local courts.

| They are charging me with intent to distribute. Apparently a Hobbs seal means they have an informant that has his/her identity sealed. |

| They often charge you with a more serious crime to get you to plead guilty to a lesser charge (simple possession). Is there anything their informant could tell them to indicate that you were dealing? Again, your lawyer will be a much better source of information than anything you'll get off of this website. She should be given access to any evidence they might have prior to the trial. This is a process called "discovery". |

| With 2 ozs plus a scale, and no mmj defense, the cops have a pretty decent case. Of course, theres a milliojn details we don't know at this time.
