| There were cases when the state tried to sue my friend's family and his family decided to sue the state for something else, but related. So, to get rid of problem the state dropped charges and the family did as well. I have a PDA I carry everywhere for organizational purposes and it has a voice recording features. When being detained or arrested, is it legal to record the conversation? I don't know what cops are allowed to say but when I was detained once I asked "Am I being detained or am I free to go officer?" and the cop said "I don't know, what do you think?" to which I said "If I am not being detained then I am going to walk away, officer" and he said "You do that and I'll break your bones" Don't get me wrong, this isn't a police bash thread. Most of them were a lot nicer. But if I am to record something like that, can I use it to sue the officer for something. That MIGHT make them drop my charge (if I drop mine against theirs). |
