ok, this will take a little explaining, but i need help. i was in ocean city maryland at the car show this weekend, and my friend sold some weed, about a dime to a cop (undercover), and i gave change for a twenty to the cop, two fives and a ten. immediately after we were arrested. i am 17 1/2, and i had my car there. now they said you have the right to remain silent, and started reading me my rights, they made it that far and i said i wanted to talk to my lawyer before they go and do anything else to me. they said ok and then never finished my rights, and went straight over to my car with all my keys and stuff that they took off of me. they searched without the presence of me or my lawyer i was supposed to talk to. they never said what they found, nor what i was charged with in the beginning. i went to the station where i was questioned, and i again refused to answer without a lawyer there, they said i would be able to talk to one as soon as i was released. now they held me in a cell for about 6 1/2 hours, we were takin out and i asked how long a minor was allowed to be kept in jail and they said 24 hours, but i asked the detective there and she said only 6. someone lied, and then i got all my stuff back in a bag, i counted my money (300 dollars) which they said was drug money, and i wanted to call my parents to fax them my bank withdrawal receipt. i wasnt allowed to, and they wouldnt let me finish looking through my stuff and they said i refused to sign the paper saying they could give my stuff back. so i have stuff missing from my bag, and they wouldnt allow me to search it. the entire night i was being lied to by the police. do i have a good case or not? someone tell me what they think.

oh yea, i forgot a couple more things. when i asked where my car was they said it was either stolen or impounded. neither were true, it was left unlocked in the parking lot where items were stolen from it. they also didnt fingerprint anything found in the car. they said i was charged with CDS and it was only a misdemeanor, then they kept changing my conviction throughout the night with no real evidence. my dad called them and asked them questions, and they told him if he didnt stop asking questions i would be charged with distribution (felony) but they had no evidence to support the claim. and one last thing for now i can think of, when i left there they told my dad to pick me up at some place, and i wasnt there, the police said they lost me, but they shipped me in the patty wagon somewhere else and never told the station nor my dad where i was. alright thats it for now.

wow, that sounds like a pretty awful police experience. The hard thing is going to prove all that =/ But best of luck to you

That must of been a dreadfull experience and i hope you nail the bastards for it. But i hope i taught you one thing, 'Don't put yourself in that situation again'. Don't hang around people who deal.

I'll be honest with you, I had a good bit of trouble following your story, but it sounds like a whole lot of messed up stuff. One thing though: what did they finally end up charging you with? And your friend? What happened to him?

I had trouble following it myself. It's unclear whether or not you got your money back - wouldn't surprise me if you didn't though if they're charging you with distribution. The rest of the story sounds really bizarre. If you were charged with something (or expect to be) then you need to talk to a lawyer ASAP.

I can tell you that once they placed you under arrest they don't need to wait for your lawyer to search your car and they don't have to do it in your presence either... the rest would just be speculation on my part.

yea, i just got a lawyer yesterday and ill be talkin to him soon here. i was finally charged with CDS and my friend was charged with distribution, possesion and paraphenelia. the whole point is i didnt know they were making a sell until i got there and after i gave the lady change for a twenty. but i'll talk to my lawyer and see what he has to say. ill keep you updated.
