| I was busted the other day by my campus police force. I took the blame; said we smoked a doobie and that we were done when the they came. I looked at my schools code of conduct and they have 2 offenses for drug related crimes. One is causing bodily harm to yourself through illicit substances and the other is possession of drugs/marijuana. The cop didn't search anyone, didn't even step foot into the room so I was wondering if I can be charged with possession? I will get something in the mail eventually but I wanted to get a head start. |

| If the cops didnt seize any marijuana, you wont be charged with possession. If you do, it wont hold up in court. You will probably get something in the mail in a few days that says you need to meet with judicial affairs, and will be punished accordingly. |

| I know that, I was just seeing if there was any way for them to get me with possession. |

Contrary to what many people think, there doesn't necessarily need to be physical evidence to convict someone of a crime. It is slightly more difficult, yes, but nowhere near impossible. If one or more police officers testify to the fact that it was obvious you had smoked weed, that would most likely do the job. If they can convince one of your pals to roll on the rest of you, that would be the last nail in the coffin. If you go back a few pages in the legal issues section, you will see a particular thread by MonarchX, who found himself in a somewhat similar situation as you. If you go back even further, you can find a post written by Phuzz01 summarizing how he was able to convict someone of drug trafficking based solely on a friend's testimony. But like I said, I doubt anything will come of what happened to you. If something does, then man up, be responsible, and learn from your mistakes. | |
