I've never heard of a check point on a interstate. I wouldn't worry about a check point, just don't speed or draw attention to your self.

Wink I'ts probably cool...

I wouldn't worry too bad if I were you. I've never heard of anyone getting stopped at a "check point" just because they were 17 or anything. But just take HappyMans advice and don't speed or draw attention to yourself. Good luck man

Heh, this reminds me of a kid i used to know when i lived on Long Island.

He was b*tching to me online about he had gotten arrested for posession, because a cop had pulled him over, and his car reeked of herb. After ranting on and on, I asked him why he got pulled over.

"I was doing 62 in a 45"

I laughed, called him an idiot, and wished him luck in court.

peace.

Drug checkpoints were always very rare, now they are nearly non-existent.

The Supreme Court ruled last summer against the use of drug checkpoints by the City of Indianapolis. They were right. Unlike DUI, which is a present danger to the other motorist (which is why DUI checkpoints are legal), transporting drugs is not a present danger. Having a 10 kilos of pot in your trunk will not really affect your driving. Smoking it and driving is a different issue.

There are, however, a lot of drug interdiction units out. They are really looking for the guy carrying 10 kilos, not 10 grams, but you still don't want to run into them. As dubstylee420 pointed out, don't do anything to get stopped and you won't have to worry.

DUI checkpoints account for their fair share of drug related arrests. Simply put, it gives police a reason to question you and look in your car that they otherwise would not have had. Im not saying that these checkpoints are not meant to catch DUI offenders, but they certainly are looking for drugs as well.

I have never seen a checkpoint on the Interstate. But, one piece of advice I would give you is to not transport illegal substances accross state lines, a crime in itself which can carry a heavy penalty in addition to the possession charge itself.

Yes, some drug arrests get made at DUI checkpoints, as do arrests for a lot of other crimes. The proportion isn't that notable.

You're right though, I've never seen a DUI checkpoint on an interstate.

An Interstate highway is the last place they would put a checkpoint. They're not going to make traffic going 70 miles per hour on a highway intended for a high throughput of automobiles come to a stop for a checkpoint.

As a precaution, should you get pulled over for any other reason, it is a good idea to appear as innocent as possible. Wear clothing that makes you look like a "good" kid, and make sure you don't let any fear appear in your voice. Make eye contact, stay calm, and be confident.

You got that right. I'm not going to volunteer to be the one waving them in.

I think he means those toll things. You know where you got to pay a fee. But those aren't a big thing, and aren't ever operated by police. I am assuming that is what you mean. And about checkpoints on interstates. They have checkpoints on a local highway here in st. louis on occasion for DUI. They usually set them up around 3 am. But these are smaller highways, not massive 5 lane interstates.
