Ok so this isn't really about mj but last halloween a cop searched me and my friend because we had firecrackers (illegal in bc). He confiscated them all, and he also stole our lighters saying "You won't need these anymore!" Can they do this? It's not like the lighters are illegal. Sure they were crappy ones like 2 bucks but still. I know they can confiscate the fire crackers but what right do they have to take the lighters? I guess it probably would have given them to me if I asked but I was pretty scared this being my first time being searched or anything.

Ahh, also he found zigzags in my wallet, and asked if I "smoke dope". I said no, but if I had said yes there is nothing he could have done right? (i had no mj or anything related on me besides the papers)

no he cant take your lighters away and if he asks you if you smoke and say yes then theres really nothing he can do about it. but this is where i live. i dont know about canada but its against your rights for him to steal things that arent his.

That is blantenly stealing. You could charge that police officer with theft under 500 dollars, of course you probably wouldnt get anywhere and even you did you would only get 2 bucks for the worth of your lighters.

Higher Logic

When I went through the airport recently, I had a Phillie Blunt box (those lasted a good week, heh) and it had about 6 lighters in it, some rolling papers (and of course, some rolling tobacco to look legit). They confiscated my lighters, saying there was a "lighter limit" and I only got to keep one of them. What the hell is that all about? What am I going to do, set the plane on fire using all my mighty 6 lighters of butane fury!

I also had a lighter stolen from me, by a cop. When I was arrested at school for a roach, they took my lighter too. I don't get it??? Oh well.
