Default Unmarked police cars

do you really have to pull over when an unmarked car puts its siren on and the spotlight? The reason I asked this is a few years ago my friend was charged with 4th degree burgulary. And he told me that there was an umarked car following him. And when the told him to get out of the car the cop from the unmarked car said that he was watching him for a long time and that he couldn't do anything with out the presence of marked vehicle, to pull me over. Also one day I was in a park at night and I did a burnout and gunned it in my car and I saw a caprice with the spotlight and they turned it on and shined it on me, but didnt follow me. My friend with me said it was a cop, but I didn't think so, because what cop wouldnt get a person for doing a huge burnout. So we made a bet, whether it was a cop or not, so I snuck back and I saw a group of black dudes sitting the caprice with the spotlight, appearently smoking pot!!! So this one other time this kid in a bretta figured how to run his car alarm while his car was moving, and when he did this, all the cars around him yielded to him, and stopped, he even could go thorugh a red light.

hahah that's awesome. Sometimes I wish I could just ram people off the road with one of those police bumpers...not like I ever would do anything like that. Im sure you all understand the feeling.

As for your question Verbal, sorry I haven't a clue.

Yes you have to pull over. However for your safety you can pull into the nearest public area. And those guys could have gotten in alot of trouble for impersonating a police officer.

we used to do that in heavy traffic to bust around it. it was fun, but we realized quickly we could get in serious trouble so we stopped. But we had a thing, anytime my friend would do that we would bust around onto the shoulder and say "A.T.V." (all terrain vehicle)

I've read, and I'm pretty sure of the accuracy, that some states, specifically New York State don't allow unmarked cars to pull over vehicles for routine traffick violations. If I recall correctly, it was issued in the mid-90's, due to fears of rapists and that sort using unmarked cars to lure victims.

As well, I've been told that if you are pulled over by an unmarked, it's allowable to continue on to a populated well-lit area before stopping. Calling 911 was recommended, to let them know what was going on to avoid any problems...

Niteshift, would love to hear if this stuff rings a bell with you, want to stay accurate, eh?

In general, yes, you have to stop for an unmarked car.

Certain states put restrictions on the use of them, as do certain agencies. However, you, as the driver, won't know if you are one of those allowable reasons until you know why you are being stopped. Your car MIGHT match the description of one that just fled a murder scene. You might think you're being stopped because your headlight is out, therefore they "can't". You'll get stopped, and they won't be in a cheery mood when they do.

To expand on the advice about going to a well lit place to stop..... Drop your speed to slightly below the speed limit and turn your 4 ways on too. This will usually let the officer know that you have in fact seen him and you are not attempting to flee in any way.

As for using car alarm sirens etc. It's just stupid to do and it will cause you more problems than it's worth.

I have seen a couple of cases in the past few years where some jokers tried playing cop and pulling people over..... only to get a REAL cop, off duty. Like I always say, if you're going to be dumb, you'd better be tough.

And if you try to run they'll just they'll just radio in a bunch of other cops then they'll all gang up and beat the shi^ out of you

I thought for a sec, "that guy's a complete moron..."

Then I realized you live in the same city as Western, so I figured I should cut you some slack. It isn't your fault that the people there rub off...

Can you back any of that up sunshine, or are you just talking out of you ass?

If you can back it up, please enlighten me about something I'm not even aware of (a time I beat the sh*t out of someone for no reason).

Otherwise, you'll simply demonstrate to me and everyone else that reads this thread that you are prone to say idiotic things and lie.

Unless of course you'd like to apologize and retract your silly, baseless drivel.

I thought for a sec, "that guy's a complete moron..."

It's been over a 5 minutes and I'm still thinking that.
