| I'm currently on probation for marijuana possession. I am on 7411 something in Michigan law where if you successfully complete probation (a year for me) the charge does not appear on your record. But anyway I was wondering. is it possible to enter canada even with a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge I've known a friend who has done this while he was on probation for the same thing. I'm just wondering if this is the minority of cases. (another person in the same car was told he couldn't enter because of his DUI charge.) Thanks. |

| I dont think you would have a huge problem with visiting, maybe becoming a citizen it might be a problem. The dui would make sense though, seeing as youd probly be driving, and they dont want any body driving in there country under the influence.

| you should check with your probation officer (PO) to see whether or not traveling to Canada is allowed.

| do you have a criminal record? if you do, you can't cross the border - simple as that. |

| You can try it... I know that when I've crossed over here at the Peace Bridge, they didn't actually run our liscences through for a check, but they did collect them for an eyeball... Where abouts in Michigan are you? If you cross at one of the busier crossings, you might be able to pull it off, Windsor or Sarnia would be decent chances. How does your probation program work? Is it like a suspended sentence, or will they wipe the record once you complete the terms? Worst thing that can happen is to be turned away, so if you live close, and have a reason for crossing, you could always try it....

| Thanks for the info everyone I'd probably cross at windsor if I went. About the probation, right now, and after I finish a year, next june, nothing will ever be on my record that I would have to report to employers and such; but if law enforcement really wanted to know they could find out.Being 19 and on probation sucks!! |
