Hi I have a question. Can I be arrested when there is totally no proof or evidence except what parents say?

Here is the situation...

Parents in my little crappy town have come to believe that I am a drugy. They believe it so much that they have put me at the top of a stupid list that they have made and are going to give it to the cops. They want to have me arrested because they believe that either I have a large amount or because I sell it. (which neither are true) If they came and searched my house they could find nothing (except maybe I pipe that has been smoked out of a while ago) Now the parents have no proof except that they have heard rumors (and in this town rumors are totally blown out of proportion.) Should I be worried about this? Can they possibly arrest me? I have a record w/ a midemeanor on it. does that make them come after me more? Kids at my school have been telling me to watch out and that cops will pull me over for no reason and search my car. I have also heard that if the police department gets anymore complaints the they will come arrest me. Can they arrest me just be complaints w/o any evidence? The parents seem to be trying to dig up enough evidence by words of kids also. SOme are asking their kids who does drugs. This town if messed up. Thanks for reading.

They need evidence, or at least probable cause, to arrest you, or even pull you over. They might be able to get a warrent because of what your parents tell them, I'm not sure what exactly it takes to get a warrent. I'd just watch what you have on you and in your car and room. Don't keep more weed than you can dispose of quickly and don't keep a pipe. Doesn't matter how long ago it was used, it you smoked with it it's paraphernalia and they get you harder for that than they do for possession.

You have some pretty ****ty parents. Get out of there as soon as possible. Nothing good will come of your present situation.

I agree! That sounds like bad news, dude.

I was in a similar situation awhile ago... my mom's best friend has a kid a few years younger than me. Everything that she heard about me she would tell my mom. It was a real nightmare, every night I would come home and mom would hear a story about me that was blown totally out of proportion.

The kid finally learned how to keep her mouth shut thank god.

It really sucks that parents have nothing better to do than find out who the "druggies" are and send the cops after them. I think that marijuana smokers have enough trouble trying to avoid cops and parents. They don't need the extra **** from rumors and gossip.

If it is untrue, wait till they do something, then get a lawyer and sue them. Slander, Lible and a host of other things. Hell, a strongly worded letter ussualy scares most people.

Further more, stop asking cops legal questions. You wouldn't ask a EMT for medical advice. Any and all legal questions should be given to lawyers.

If you're willing to pay a lawyer to come here and answer questions for free then by all means bring him on. But for now the best we have is a few cops that offer free advice and personal experience and that's worth a damn sight more than poor advice from someone that has no knowledge of due process.

Until the LEO's started answering questions here this forum was full of posts of stories involving friends of friends, the step brothers of boy/girl friend's cousin's second uncle and now they have posts that contain knowledge that can be carried into court.

Panama is right of course,but all advice should be taken for what it is worth.I am not a doctor but can give you advice on my medical condition and the resultant treatment.That is what it is though,my condition.
Is the problem the relationship with your parents,or the lack of evidence against you?If the situation has gotten to the point that your parents want to have you arrested,it's gotten out of control,in my opinion.

dedbr, I think he is talking about the local parents, not his. Hell I hope it's not his parents otherwise he should put himself up for adoption. If that's possible.

r0os my advice is, put your pipe outside your house like your shed or something or just let a friend hold on to it. Don't have a lot of bud on you or in your house. After all that wait for the cops and see what they do, then sue them for everything you can.

*ahem* So far, he hasn't even mentioned having a problem with the police yet. He's just afraid of what rumors say and what could happen.

I never keep all my bud on me. It's just not a smart thing to do, you could be caught when you least expect it. A smart toker only carries what he/she plans to smoke.

I don't like hiding my stuff outside my house. I've done it a few times and twice my stuff disapeared. Just hide it somewhere good in your house.
