I was recently caught smoking in my dorm room. The police knocked on my door and when they came in I was not smoking adn had my weed put away but there was an odor of marijuana and when I was asked to give them my weed I did. Together my friend and I had bout a half ounce in the room and two pipes. I was charged with three counts marijuana possession nd she was charged with 2. Additionally, I received an alcohol citation earlier this year, and am on probation for it. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice. I have no money to get a lawyer, and I dont want to be kicked out of school and I have no idea what is going to happen with the law. If anyone knows any loop holes or arguments or any information at all that could help that would be great..

shouldnt you have been charged with possesion and possesion of paraphanelia?

Were these campus cops or city cops? Violating school rules is considerably different than getting arrested and charged for violating state laws. Was the alcohol citation from the city or from the school?

both charges were made by city police not campus police

In my non-lawyer legal opinion, you're screwed. You let the police in and handed them all the evidence needed to convict you.

The consequences depend on the laws where you live. In Ohio, you can have a 100 grams (3.5 oz.) and get a $100 "traffic ticket" - no criminal record, no possibility of jail time. In Idaho, you could get a year in jail and a $500 fine for your half-ounce.

Sadly, Buzzby is right. You handed them your soul when you gave up the weed to them. You're guilty,, will be found as such, and you'll be subject to whatever penalities the judge and your probation officer (if there is one) apply. Being arrested while on probation will likely increase any penalties you'll be facing, and oftentimes, a drug violation on campus means you get kicked out of the dorms
