Im 15 and live in illinois.

Ok, i walk in to a gas station in Illinois and take a lighter and chips and she rings up the chips but refuses to sell me the lighter!!

Is she allowed to tell me the things that I can and cannot buy even if they are legal, OR did it become illegal for a 15 year old to buy a lighter at a gas station??????????

at some very gay gas stations you have to be 18 to buy a lighter, that is very few though

I was under the impression that all gas stations only sell lighters to 18+.

Sure they can. They've always been able to. Ever see something on sale and in the fine print is says "limit 2 per customer"? Guess what they were doing? Telling you what you can and can't buy.

Around here, lighters, matches, spray paint, even whipped cream in some stores, are all limited to adult sales.

making something 18 plus dosent keep it out of the hands of minors, they have 2 choices.

- use a fake id

- pay someone or get someone you know to buy it for you

You know what you guys are missing?

Need to be 18 to by spray paint.
Need to be 18 to buy cans of whipped cream.
18 or older to buy a lighter, and it'll probably be one of those stupid child resistant one.......

Why? Because some dumb-azz before you got one of those items and did something ignorant with it.

Then, after THEY did something ignorant, their parents sued a store for selling it to them. Win or lose, the store shells out money to defend themselves against the lawsuit.

So of course they'll try to protect themselves. How much profit do you think they really make on a lighter? Compare that to $200 an hour for the attorney costs.............
