Default Paraphernalia possession

So the other day my friend and I got pulled over, and we got busted with a glass bowl and about a ten sack, both of which i took the fall for. I have no other offenses of any kind on my record, and I hafta go to court in a few weeks. I'm just wondering about what I should be expecting to happen? I live in Ohio and I'm 20.

Take a look at Norml.org

From what is says up there you should expect a fine and probably court costs. No incarceration for first offense.

The paraphernalia can be up t0 750 dollars though and can have a maximum of 30 days incarceration.

Yeah.. What a BS law. Is that mandatory, even if there is a plea agreement?

*keep in mind this could possibly vary from state to state*

In Mass., it is DMV that suspends your license for drug convictions - rarely the courts. The plus side to this, is that the DMV can only suspend your license for a guilty finding, any sort of diversion program will not suffice for a suspension, because technically - you were never actually found guilty.

As long as you aren't formally found guilty, your license is OK. That's how it is here, at least.

It's rediculous with all these laws. What happend to America? We had the revolutionary war to break loose from britain and its outrages laws, taxes, and unjust ruler. Now in our own country the U.S., we now have outrages laws and prohibitions, people in jail for smoking something thats been around longer than America itself. Its funny how the several million American people have no say compared to a few people in the government with more "power" than all of us.

I think not.
Sadly most of the majority is still against marijuana. Many states have had chances to decriminalize pot and they didn't because majority ruled in keeping the law.

If you're going to blame the government, blame the millions of people who voted not to make it legal in past ballots also

Well put Dark,

and just to further the point if I may -
We talk endlessly about how we Americans are the luckiest, the best off, in the world because we have a Democratic Government (arguably I know, but that's not the point here),
and then we piss and moan whenever the "government" does or doesn't do something we don't like.

It's not rocket science gang.
Pointing the finger of blame at those we elect is frankly, an embarrassment, to say nothing of a total waste of energy. Want something bad enough then it's called participation, activism etc.

That's the beauty of our system of government. We want change?
Well, surprise surprise, it takes getting involved, investing our minds, our energy and doing the hard work to maintain "a government of the people, by the people, and for the people"...
.

Two-thirds of voters polled say that they are against legalizing marijuana. Why would their representatives take a different position?

It is only by educating the public about the truths of marijuana that we can change public opinion. We're in a propaganda war with the Drug Warriors and they're winning because they have our taxes to cover their expenses. We have three major pro-legalization organizations that are supported by only 0.25% of the estimated number of cannabis consumers in this country. They have hundreds of millions of dollars with which to tell us lies. We have $18 million (half of which comes from a few billionaires) to promote the truth. If we, the consumers of cannabis, won't get behind legalization, who will?

Its about money. Its not like they are seizing counterfit bills or foreign currency. It is american dollars and a lot of them.

The PD here siezed a huge load of automobiles and such from a drug bust and they turned one of the vehicles which was like a 2006 Ford F-350, some huge ass fuckin truck into a police vehicle that serves as a mobile crime unit. Slapped a big ole topper on the back and claimed that shit.
