In that same case, The Virginia Tech Student was able to get guns, who's to say if a well heated fight breaks out during class or in a drunken rage at a Dorm?
If people want guns they can get them, really its not hard.
An people getting drunk an shooting well that happens anyway but most people would be smarter than to shoot in a dorm.

I'm all for gun rights, but I'm also for the rights of others who wish to live on the property they control to be gun free if they so choose.

I carried a knife to school when I was in high-school, but only for the same reason I later carried a cell phone. Better to be prepared.

Guess I'm just one of those walk softly and carry a big stick kind of girls. I never got in trouble with it because I never showed it off.

in my opinion neither side has a better outcome,

pros of having guns:you can defend yourself, possibility of less casualties, and less of a chance someone would go crazy if they knew others could fight back

cons: police may mistake defender from attacker, if the guy with the gun got mad there would be problems, and finally their would be hell to pay for passing this law outside of Texas cause not many parents are going to like the idea of guns at school its supposed to be a safe place

i personally am not taking any sides on this one cause either way will have equal ups and downs

Not necessary...as I pointed out, at least in SD's case, the policy of NOT allowing guns to be carried on campus may violate the state's laws and/or Constitution. You can't enforce policies that are illegal under state law.

If the policies are valid under federal law, then federal law trumps state law.

Federal law doesn't regulate where firearms may be carried.....thats a power left to the state

I think this debate is heading in a long and pointless direction. This is why politics makes me angry, debates like gun control, abortions, gay marriages will never ever be solved. Every side can make their argument look valid. If you can't see both sides of the gun argument then to be honest I think you're a fool. You may strongly believe in one and there's nothing wrong with that but if you can't see why the other side is fighting so strongly then I think something's up. Plain and simple gun laws will never change from what they are. It's one of those pointless arguments that will go on forever and no side will ever get their exact way because each side is equally as valid.

As for this exact argument there are two sides as stated by other people. Each one is equal in my opinion.

Gun laws change all the time in most states.
