I read my school's newspaper as well as local newspaper and the police reports often have "Officer smelled MJ in the hallway, demanded the door to be opened, and asked the inhabitants where their MJ was" or something like that. People just open the door to them and hand them their small amounts of weed.

It takes 5 seconds to get your stuff out and flash it. Even bowls should be kept in bags and if this happens you crush it and flush it!

Think it thru, Monarch. The cops bust the door in so you can't flush it or stash it. That's the whole purpose behind a "raid", to catch you in the act or with the goods. If a cop is standing at the door and you say wait a minute, then he hears the flusher, what's he going to think?

There have been times that they rip the plumbing out to find it, so it is a waste. What state do you live in? Simple possesion is only a misdemeanor in Ohio. Why flush it if it's such small time thing......

If you have time before you open the door, you can empty the back of your toilet ( flush it and turn off the lead in pipe) then you can stash alot in there. Even small bongs can be put in there.

Not a raid...just a cop at the door banging and asking to come in. I'm sure some bust in, but even encounter I heard of had cops outside knowing and yelling "Police! Open up!" You could scream "I am in the bathroom! I'm coming!" and then flush. Since you were in the bathroom they can only guess at what you flushed.

If they suspect small MJ amounts then they are not likely to destroy your toilet and pipelines. Same if they can smell MJ on your hands (yet you posses none). I think they COULD do a lab test and find THC and ANY amount of THC is illegal, but will they bother?

Trust me, a misdemeanor on your record is far worse than a broken toilet! It stays in your record forever (unless state laws let you expunge) and prevents you from getting jobs you want. I'd rather have a busted toilet and pipeline but no record. I'd work and pay to fix it.

Destruction of evidence carries harsher penalties than simple possession.
That stands true regardless of whether they destroy your toilet.

Fist off, if a cops at the door banging, unless he's got a search warrant he can bang his guts out because I don't have to open the damn door. Second, if I answer the door I will step outside to talk to them, they ain't coming in my house. I conduct business like that on my porch at my convinience, not theirs.

That's a right too I think. I do have them and I do exercise them at any time. Banging on my door will only piss me off.......

I was present in a very good friend's house this semester as four police officers came to the door which happened to be in the midst of a repair and was wide open. They came in, smelled marijuana (as nearly everyone present was smoking in separate rooms, about 25 people in all) and asked to be lead through each room as they searched. As I hit the steamroller in front of me, I noticed the cops, stashed the weed and roller under the couch I sat on and inconspicuously continued my video game. The cops found a quarter pound in my friends room down the hall from me and told him to flush it. I was surprised, as here in PA that kind of weight carries some big penalties. Other misc paraphernalia was confiscated but we mostly got off easy as there were tons of underage kids drinking on a keg plus all the weed in the house. It was crazyyy. They told us if they heard another flush they were gonna bring it down hard on us so that pretty much ruled out anyone else getting away so easy. It was awful. Thankfully I was clean...

tampering with evidence, value of the pot, and you dont always have the time to flush it and if you live in california just hand over 100 dollars with your pot for the ticket, or more like 140 after all the other charges that they get you for

In my state once you are done with everything it costs you about $1,500 after probation and court fines and fees and you have a record, its worth a flush if you can.

I got busted because the cops happened to be walking by when the door was open and smelt weed and walked right in and busted me and all my buddies. If i had the chance to flush it i would have. you just dont always get the chance.
