My best friend is Korean and he went back there recently after 2 years living in Canada. In Canada, he developed a taste for weed and for [Mod note: Off topic substance reference deleted.] and is having trouble living without.

He wants to go to Thailand, or Vietnam or Cambodia on a holiday and to get some weed or [Mod note: See above.]. I am trying to talk him out of messing with drugs in those cultures. I am concerned with his plan to bring some back into Korea (just for personal use).

I'm trying to tell him: if you want this stuff, come to Canada for your vacation -- and don't take any back to Korea. But you know the story, because I'm his friend he thinks I am being over-cautious.

Does anyone know what the penalty is for bringing weed into Korea?

What would happen to a foreigner who is caught buying weed in Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia?
