Default Will the people of the U.S. allow legalization?

It seems as though far too many people have been brainwashed by our dishonest government's propaganda. I honestly believe that if marijuana were made legal, or even decriminalized, that parents, teachers, and many many other people would take a stand. Although this is sickening, it seems logical. Anyone know what I mean? The government basically doesn't make it legal so the organized crime can make money off of it(or something like that), and the health propaganda is just their bullsh*t, but would this also be something that would stop them? The reason for this thought is because, even though I try to remain private about my use of marijuana, it seems as though increasing tensions of the anti-drug side have made things more difficult. Although I am in full support of our country and love it dearly, I'm afraid I would have to move to Canada, or England(congragulations England, God bless you and your government). AT the level of use that I use marijuana, I find that the anti-drug side just notices, and they are quite vicious with their beliefs. Maybe its just New York, but maybe thats wishful thinking too.... As far as I'm concerned, I think its time for another tea party.

of course people will protest. all their lives theyve been taught that this is the devil and think about all the poeple making money off of it being illegal. Drug dealers would protest, police would protest because now they would have to actually get people doing things wrong. most people are just too stupid to understand.

I have said it before, and i will say it again. Marijuana remains illegeal because most before want it so, or don't care. It may be hard to believe, but in the U.S. what most people want, gets done.

Exactly. We are biased here at MJ.com, we don't get to hear the other side. It actually makes alot of seanse that marijuana is illegal is the majority want it to remain that way. I don't think it's so much the government, but society.

But look at history and how long it took the people to overcome slavery and the massive Monopolies in the 20's things dont change as fast as the people do, so if enough people open their mind ,who were effected by the massive drug war and reefer madness,in enough places the laws w/ change cause the issues are differnet , different circumstances.

I disagree. The polls indicate that a large majority (over 70%) of people in the country support change of the laws, with 41% supporting full legalization. Yet we don't see change.

We have a roadblock in the road to reform in the form of Congress. The current structure of congress and state of politics keeps the Congress from bringing the issue up for debate and a vote. Individual members believe, probably correctly, that championing drug law reform will create a weakness that an electoral opponent can exploit.

I don't have an answer for this problem, other than voting and writing your congressman.

Catch 22. As long as it's illegal, we can't really talk about legalizing it.

Hypocrisy. Bush JR. on his soap box telling people that anyone who does drugs will bring the country down(okay, bad example).
