| I live in New York, and as far as I can tell, it is a very brainwashed state full of radical anti-pot 'soldiers', as i like to call them. But as far as people sending in petitions and letters, and peoples overall opinion, is New York leaned towards the anti-pot side or pro-pot; I just want the facts, even though my presumptions are most likely somewhat accurate. |

| Actually marijuana is decriminalized in new york... I know on LI and in the city mj is rampant. Everyone either smokes or has smoked in the past. I have no clue what consensus of the general population up state is though. However there is that group of aging conservatives and misinformed teenagers that like to pass on the anti drug message. But they are easily outnumbered by openminded people, former hippies(Hi, dad!), I think if the legislation were proposed, Ny would vote in favor of legalization. On a whole I would say if ny were a person and you wanted to know where they were at 4:35 check 711. |

| I was shocked when NY passed that law banning the smoking of cigarettes in ALL restaurants and BARS!!!! If they went so far as to ban the public smoking of a legal substance, I don't imagine the legalization of pot will be anywhere in the near future. I was more shocked a month later to find that my home state of Louisiana was working on passing the same thing here. I don't know about the rest of the state, but here in New Orleans we have drive thru liquor/ daqueri stores, it's legal to have open containers while driving and it's legal to drink in public. Apparently, second hand smoke is a much bigger threat to public safety. Go Figure. I know all this is off topic, but you can gage a community's attitude about weed by it's tolerance/ intolerance of other substances. On the other hand, do any of you feel truly represented by any of the "representatives" that are supposedly elected to represent you??? |

| I don't see why smokers even have an arguement in this scenario. Smoking should have never been allowed in public places besides bars. Many people have a family history of lung cancer and dont appreciate that guy with a cigarette lighting up across the room from them in the "smoking" section. I smoke, but that was my decision, its not their decision to inhail what I smoke. Also, I dont think the public see smoking cigarettes in public, and smoking pot a similair topic. Mainly because, most people are under the assumption that pot if legal would only be smoked at home. Because of all the Reefer Madness crap, everyone is convinced that pot inhibits your ability to make informed decisions. I remeber id get blazed, and my friends would come over and talk to me like I was drunk or something. And I was like, man you guys are misinformed. Needless to say, they are all advocates now. Quote:
