I noticed that it said it would allow 'adults' to purchase MJ where alcohol was sold.

I cant imagine they would ever legalize intoxication of a minor

On topic though, wouldnt this be fantastic if it actually happened? I wont hold my breath but its exciting to see the fight march on!

Legalize it!

I feel the same way, AT. I won't hold my breath but it is inspiring to see the progress and changes we are actively seeking.

If it happens I will move to Cali, may do so anyway. I am tired of being treated like a criminal.

I have no doubt that they can get enough signatures to get the issue on the ballot. I don't think it would get the majority of voters needed to pass it. Nationwide, 36% of voters surveyed favor legalization. It's probably higher than that in CA but not enough to pass the bill.

Does one have to be a California resident to take part in this? If not, where do I sign?

It almost seems like anti-marijuana people are behind this bill... put out a petition, let no one sign it, then say "We tried to change the law... but no one signed the petition."

I just wrote to (and got a response from) the author that wrote the article for LAist.

Aside from him being a jackass (he's a bit defensive about not having details on how to sign the petition... I think it's because so many people are asking him), he informed me that:

========
========
"The proponent, Christopher Springer, has left no contact information with the State Secretary, and i am currently cold calling every chris springer in california i can find, with no luck so far."

"I would also like to point out to you that any initiative has to be signed in person with a hard copy of the initiative present at the time of the signature. So there was never any option for a website that i could direct people to where they could sign their name."

"My hopes are that i am either able to locate Mr. Christopher Springer, or that he hears about the article i wrote and finds me."

If someone finds this "chris" guy, they should really let him know what a dumbfuck he is.

here's the actual document with a cover page stating coordinator Toni Melton. Why would someone go through the trouble of making an initiative like this only to not have anyone be able to sign it.?
