I hate to burst your bubble but there are coffeeshops that sell alcohol. I enjoyed a few heine's at The Doors coffeeshop while I was there.

Do you know the difference between use and abuse? From what I've seen of Datura, it doesn't seem like a drug you'd want to do more than once or twice. That sure as hell doesn't count as abuse in my book anyways.

So you're either an anomaly or you smoke so much that you have an astronomical tolerance and don't really get that high. Neither one applies to the great majority of cannabis consumers. Do you smoke all day, every day? The average cannabis consumer is likely to smoke once a week.

If I'm understanding you, you're saying that laws shouldn't apply equally for all people. Do you think alcoholics should have special privileges to drive with a BAC over 0.08%?

The ones who are not driving impaired are not the problem, any more than the guy who's had one beer is the problem. Personally, I don't want to share the roads with people whose brains are so fucked up (I believe that's the term they use...) that they are imagining things that aren't there (typical of heavy marijuana intoxication), can't remember what they were doing three seconds ago, and are barely able to stay awake.

Since they don't have a quantitative way of determining how much cannabis a person has consumed (like a breathalizer for alcohol), a decision to issue a DUID should be based on impairment testing.

Please cite your evidence for that. AFAIK, that's just pro-pot propaganda. If you've got a scientific study that shows smoking marijuana kills lung cancer cells in human beings, I'd love to see it.

So few people use datura that it isn't considered to be a social problem about which it's worth passing a law. As soon as it is, a law will be passed. That's what's happening with salvia right now. The same thing happened with LSD and X.

I vape a bit of KB before bed every night and I smoke socially with friends. My situation is far more typical of cannabis consumers than those who smoke all day, every day. On a third of a gram of vaped KB, I get far too "impaired" to even think about driving.

You need either to get better weed or to take steps to lower your tolerance. By vaping a small amount of KB once a day, I get incredibly high and don't build a tolerance that lowers my ability to get high the next time. If it were Indica instead of the Sativa I prefer, I think I'd be couchlocked. I can get off on one hit from the vape. Four hits will put me on another planet.

The new Texas law is anything under four ounces is just a misdemeanor.

I got caught in Houston with less than a gram... but it was in a school zone so I got a class A misdemeanor.

The old law used to be two ounces or more was a felony, but now it's four. A buddy of mine got caught with 3.5 oz and was worried he had a felony charge, but he was informed about the new law.

Sure Texas sucks when it comes to drug laws... but believe it or not it is getting better, although it's taking us forever to follow suit with everyone else.
