Default California to Legalize Weed for Everyone

Quote:
With enough signatures, Californians could be voting to legalize marijuana in the upcoming November election. They need 694,354 signatures by September, 5, 2008. It's totally do-able. Its been over a decade since Proposition 215, the Compassionate Use Act of 1996, was passed with over 5 million votes in favor.

Does anyone have any clue on where someone (like myself) would go to sign?

I can't seem to find any information regarding where to sign the petition.

thank god I live in California. God, I love this state =D

If only I wasn't a minor...

EDIT: I just looked over the site, and it says nothing about age, instead it says "allows for marijuana to be sold to anyone, and anywhere that already sells alcohol" and that's not in the actual bill/proposition/whatever.

Anyone know whether or not this means even minors will be able to have it legally?

Some how I cant see that happening, were having enough trouble putting our ten year old law into full effect, and this is going to scare people, they dont want the feds breathing down their necks,in fact we might loose and have what we have now overturned, and then where will we be?We'll all be looking for a dealer and still paying sky high prices,I say leave well enough alone at least we can still get it.

well the medical law was passed with over 5 million supporters, i dont think it should be that hard to get 600k based on how much we got last time. Plus I'm sure we have even more people who have realized the truth about marijuana and how its just big corporations of tobacco, alcohol, and pharmacy drugs that want it to be illegal so they can keep their monopolies on the industry

Shouldn't be a problem to at least get the signatures. All I can say is it seems like a step in the right direction

I seriously doubt that. However, I also doubt it will be very difficult to obtain. To put it into perspective, how hard is it for you to get beer? At least during my teenage years, it was pretty trivial.

Unfortunately, I live in police state Texas. And although ounces are cheap down here, being caught with one carries penalties comparable to murder. Nearly everyone in law enforcement here is a hapless good ol' boy and totally blind. Even the judges are corrupt to hell. Despite being a sprawling urban area, Dallas is still full of Bible-thumpers and hypocritical moralists.

I lived in San Diego at one time, and I'm seriously considering a move back. The weather was better. Yes, there is MUCH money to be had in DFW, but the social climate here is not friendly.

Then can we at least expect that being caught with marijuana as a minor will be decriminalized by this bill? Since its basically removing it as a Schedule 1 Drug in the state's eyes (DEA excluded)

I can imagine penalties similar to those of selling alcohol/tobacco to a minor. Fines.

The legalization proponents won't dare speak of the under-18 crowd for fear of having their campaign crash and burn.

Ah, yeah good point.

This is, to say the least, something interesting. I wonder how this would effect everyone's lives here in CA if passed. All you would have to be worried about is the Fed's. =D
