You can't smoke in public, wtf are you talking about subnoize rat 420.

You can smoke in a coffee shop and within the confines of your home I believe. Marijuana is not legal in the Netherlands.

I think it all depends on how public the place is. I was taking bonghits in vondel park and no one bothered me. I tried to pick an out of the way location though, so I wouldn't bother anyone. When it comes to a big crowd though, I won't light up just on the basis of it's rude.

Good point. Still, I can smoke weed in public here discretely and not get caught, but that doesn't give me justification.

Just be wary, I'd hate to see any foreigner getting in trouble because they thought the Netherlands was some sort of Pot Heaven on Earth.

People might not bother you for somking in public but if it's illegal to smoke outside in the Netherlands and a cop sees you he might say something. You could smoke in the coffee shops and maybe your hotel room. Think about it like this, alcohol is legal in America, but if you walk down the street drinking a beer you could get in trouble. You can't even leave the bar and walk away with a drink.

some of the tours let you smoke and have open bars. like the one that goes around the city on a boat. I don't think people will say anything about you tokin in public but, I am going to respect the laws of the land and not do it.
