It is marijuana. Just as it is cannabis, weed, tree, ganja, or whatever else I feel like calling it. A free country incorporates free speech so keep on rockin' marijuana!

Well until cannabis is shown to increase the size of men's penile and increase the size of women's breasts--it will remain 'illegal'. But thanks Rhymenocerus for keepin us "on subject here".

Marijuana is and has been the colloquial name for cannabis-as-a-drug for a very long time and that is unlikely to change. Once people realized that cannabis is another name for marijuana, they would look at it just as they look at marijuana today.

I think that we need a new, completely standard name

All those sketchy names like "Pot, Grass, weed, ganja, green, puff, sweet leaf, etc just make us look like druggies which im certain we all arn't.

In the mean time Cannabis is a good name

Once people realize you're talking about pot, it will just revert back to that.

When I'm at work I usualy do the whole "Hey, have you seen mary and jane?" or "Hey do you want to come over and meet mary and her good friend jane?"

I like the cousin bit, very creative

A person's choice of words IS important. When I'm talking to folks who consider themselves "anti-marijuana" I use the term "medical cannabis", to put it in perspective, that I'm not talking about recreational drugs.
Call it what you want, to me it's my medicine.
