| MA Essex County DA Jonathon Blodgett, Whitney Taylor, Emily Rooney, Steven Epstein, James White discuss MA marijuana decrim initiative Question 2 and MA DA Jonathan Blodgett repeatedly lies, misrepresents, changes the subject and seems a little bit out of it.... Reefer madness. Lie #1. Marijuana is not addictive, nor is it universally stronger today than it was 20 years ago. FAQ's - NORML Cannabis No Stronger, British Medical Journal Says - NORML Lie #2 The marijuana reform side was talking about people being in jail for a joint? Not true. Nobody with CSMP or James White for that instance are talking jail. They are talking tax savings and no criminal record for life so people can get a job. Lie #3. It's onerous to say a CORI for pot stops one from getting a job? A CORI is for life unless one tries to get it sealed after waiting 10 years after a CWAF that he talks of. Or immediately after being found innocent. But it doesn't help because as the lawyer Mr. Epstein notes the employer can see that you have a sealed record which immediately raises red flags. So an arrest in MA right now for cannabis for one joint is indeed a lifetime punishment for those in certain fields of work. Many jobs check the CORI. Look at boston.com and check the security jobs, "No criminal record", "Cori check" , hotel chains and just above minimum wage jobs, they all check the CORI. Not being able to get a job leads to increased crime. You'd think a DA would care about that. You'd be wrong. Lie #4 No data on decrim in other states? What Is Law Enforcement Smoking To Oppose Question 2? | Committee for Sensible Marijuana Policy Lie #5, The numbers (cost savings) are bogus. B.U. Bridge: Boston University community's weekly newspaper Laurence Kotlikoff, the chairman of the CAS economics department, adds that Miron is one of the most knowledgeable economists in the world on this particular issue and that his conclusions are worth taking very seriously. Costs of Marijuana Prohibition: Economic Analysis 500+ economists agree with Jeff Miron. 3 of them are Nobel Laureate economists vs. Jonathan "Change the Subject" Blodgett. Lie #6, do I even need to get to this one. The craziest statement of all and from a working MA DA. James White was arrested, cuffed, he was not smoking pot or doing it in front of a cop. I know this for a fact and many the same. In MA people are often arrested for just having some pot on them. It's up to the officer's discretion. I'm sure white folks often get a pass compared to the minority groups Blodgett professes to be following the lead of.... Welcome! | Committee for Sensible Marijuana Policy http://masscann.org |
