| To start out I wasn't sure where to post this. I was reading some articles about the FDA and testing marijuana. And it got me thinking about something that's been on my mind for a while. Federal law has made marijuana illegal. It's been that way for a long time now. When I was a kid I was taught at school that marijuana was bad, and to just say no if anyone offered me marijuana. The commercials against marijuana were ridiculous. Many still are, but they are learning to twist the truth instead of making outrageous claims that it can kill you. Nowadays they just say that you will sit around and do nothing. Many, many people have proved this wrong. People can and do live successful lives while still smoking marijuana. Marijuana activism and proper marijuana information has increased much over the years. With more and more people seeing it's not bad. And due to this, states have slowly begun to decriminalize marijuana. The medicinal values of marijuana are being discovered more and more everyday. With all over benefiting from marijuana. Living, breathing, simply because of marijuana. This has caused people to stand up and say "Hey, this works better than the "medication" I was given". And with this, states have begun to slowly make marijuana legal for medicinal marijuana users. While this is a step in the right direction. Why is it that we try to fight but get nearly nowhere. People become casualties. Sick people die, or are arrested. Medical marijuana facilities are raided. Medicine is taken away. Hope is taken away. With everything that marijuana can do. It makes no sense to me whatsoever why it is still illegal. The government has effectively told all of us marijuana users that we are too stupid to make our own choice. That we cannot see the good and the bad without them. We are only children to them. They do not and continue to refuse to see us as intelligent people. They have effectively oppressed us. They have (by maintaining the current federal laws) deprived us of our freedom. The Declaration of Independance says this Quote:
By marijuana being illegal it is a contradiction to the Declaration. Now I know it isn't the Constitution. But it's what started it all. It's when our founding fathers decided they wanted freedom from England. They wanted the freedoms that every human being is entitled to by being alive. They fought for it. They won. The first president even grew hemp himself and said Quote:
Quote:
And it was Henry Ford who brought us the more afordable car. He started us on cars. He was a very smart man, he had over 160 patents. He knew what he was talking about. The government is not more powerful than us. We are the people, we hold all the power. Yet we fear to loose it upon the government. Yes we do go through the proper channels and follow the rules in trying to change marijuana's illegal status. But the police in certain places that have changed the local marijuana laws are not listening to the people and this saddens me greatly. It saddens me to see us marijuana users speaking softly and asking please?, Please? And when we finally get the laws changed. Those that are supposed to enforce the laws defect to the federal laws. If we let this continue to happen it will take a long long time to get where we want to. We are being violated. We are being mocked. We are not being listened to. I believe that we do not need to make excuses, we do not need to compromise. We like marijuana. And we want it legal. So that we can grow it, smoke it, buy it, start small businesses selling it. We want the money out out of the hands of gangs and drugdealers. We want to use the money to educate our children, we want that money to use to pay off America's debts, we want that money to pay for roads and Hospitals and reasearch, we want that money to be used to put real criminals in jail. We want that money to work for us. Not some dude selling weed on a corner. Make it legal, give him a job and make him an honest man. Make it legal so that we can grow hemp with no worries. And from that hemp we can start to rebuild our world that we are being told is being destroyed. From that hemp we can build houses without chopping down a single tree. We can eat hempseed, and it is very very good for us. With more hemp we can feed more of the hungry. With more hemp we wont need fossil fuels. Hemp could be utilized to its full potential and we could truly move into the 21st century. And one last thought. Our brains have cannibinoid receptors. Marijuana produces the chemicals that we have the receptors for. And Marijuana can be used for medicine, food, clothes, paper, plastic, houses, and relaxation. And grows easily anywhere just like a weed. I find it very interesting that this plant is the only one that produces cannibinoids and has so many uses. To me it seems like its purpose is to be utilized by us. And the icing on the cake is the receptors in out brains. I think we shouldn't ask for little by little. I don't want just a bite of cake here and there. I want the whole piece now. Sorry if that is all disorganized or if it jumps a bit. I'm tired and had some thoughts to get out. Feel free to point out flaws. It's how I learn *Edit* Thanks for moving the thread. Last edited by TheDoctor : 12-21-2008 at 07:12 PM. | |||
