| ![]() I wanna preface this by disclosing that I voted for Obama and was an almost insane supporter of him. Like about everyone else in this nation I was disgusted at the direction Bush had pointed us in. I thought that Obama was an intelligent, pragmatic, charismatic leader that respect science and reason and could lead us out of this hellhole. So far so good I guess. It really is too hard to tell where this economy is going to go, but I am still being optimistic about the whole thing given his constant stress on education and progress in science as being the way out of the hole. He has a lot of sensible solutions to current problems. Except for one thing. We all know what that particular issue is. Granted, The president has done much to ease the atmosphere. His choice of a "drug-czar" is alright I guess. There shouldn't be one period, but I suppose it could be worse, and is wonderful what has happened in California, and generally across the country. LOTS of widespread coverage speaking well of ending prohibition... But his administration must not be hearing it. Or they have an agenda. Consider the ongoing troubles with Mexico. To any of us the obvious solution is LEGALIZATION of drugs thereby taking cash out of the gangsters hands. But what does Secretary Clinton have to offer? Yesterday she advised the country that "its our fault too" because of our god-damned insatiable desire for illicit substances. And the fact that we ship massive amounts of cash and weapons across the border in exchange for drugs. Once again, the end of prohibition would begin a trend to end the violence and help stop Mexico from devolving into "failed state" status. Do we want that? To sum it up... Does the Obama administration understand this point or not? Why is it not on the table? What is the mother-fucking motive? /facepalm
