| So cannabis is decriminalized in states like California. So there aren't as many risks from use.....plus I know myself to never ever put myself in a situation to be caught. Not only is it decriminalized but it is not taxed or regulated, which is great in a way. I generally have not been so much behind partial legalization and regulation/taxation because of how much freedom there is in the black market as long as you are covert about it....and because yeah no taxation is great (though full blown legalization would be different ) Plus I am not in support of treating cannabis like alcohol; especially with a legal age of 21.....I think it should at the very least be 18.But then again there are possibly other benefits that I should take into account from legalization. For one I would love to be able to smoke out in the open in public, expressing my love for toking the holy ganja. And of course growing in your house or out in the open in your backyard wouldn't be dangerous. And most of all.....despite the taxation and regulation.....it should be cheaper.....or will it? So how much cheaper will cannabis get if it became legal....in for example California? An ounce of high quality bud in California can cost $350 depending on the region.....heck even often times in the emerald triangle and definitely in the bay area. A gram is about $20, an eighth $50, a quarter $90-$100, a half ounce to $150-$180. So how much lower would these prices go down, before and after taxation if legalization occurred? A bill was proposed in California called "California Assembly Bill 390" or the "Marijuana Control, Regulation, and Education Act" which legalized pot for persons 21 and older and taxes it and regulates it like alcohol; Marijuana Control, Regulation, and Education Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I doubt it will pass but it definitely has made me wonder about how pot being legal would be in California. Since it's still illegal under federal law there will likely be federal prosecution and action (which I doubt Obama would make any effort to stop) but still there would be a lot less legal hassles in this area. There will be a vote on it March 31st.....who knows what will happen....but how much cheaper will it be? |
