| He's brushing it off like a non-serious subject as well. The public, backed by the media, means business. At least do us the service of acting like you take your citizens seriously.

| I think it's great that the press would drill him on this subject. Many people here have said this, but I'd like to jump in and say it as well, "Oh the times are a changing!"

| Did not see a thread posted on this anywhere .... ??? Anyway, the press is hammering the Obama team over his smugness ... the media does not like it and they are on the attack. And the Obama team response is basically 75% umm's and uhhhh's ... Its awesome !! I especially like the question ... does Obama have any data to back up his opinion that legalizing would not help the economy ... uhhhh ummm uhhhhh is basically the response along with nervous giggles (more giggles that got them in hot water in the first place) . |

| First, our president is just following through with his promise about the online question forum. Its a wonderful thing he got up there and answered the most popular question. He also tried to be funny. I thought it was funny. I also think it was a hint. If pot is legalized, its not gonna be by executive order, it will have to come from congress. Gibbs, does a good job. But man he is nervous. Very nervous. The obama camp does not want to lose the chance of a second term over his drug policy. They are very very weary about taking a pro marijunana approach. We all just gotta plead with out politicians to get the message out there. Look at massachusetts. Few.....no more pot arrests of less than an ounce. Thank god I can drive without worrying about getting nabbed for a seed. Quote:

Your comment doesn't make sense to me. Yeah, the reason Obama is treating pro-legalization people like imbeciles that "stack the deck" on online voting is that he is worried about re-election close to 4 years away. The economy is going to be more of the deciding factor on that regard. So he doesn't think the economy will "grow" if we end the prohibition of marijuana... but why? I could actually see a serious argument that legalization would mean that we would have to lay-off a bunch of police officers, guards, and generally a bunch of other people involved in the prison-industrial complex... but is that really where we want to be as a country? Maybe that is his rational, so of course he can't come out and say it.

He said it's "not a good way to grow our economy". He never said it wouldn't grow our economy. Robbing billionaires and redistributing their money would grow our economy, but it wouldn't be a good way of doing it. His wording is important, he never said marijuana legalization wouldn't be good for the economy. | |
