This piece of rhetoric popped into my head just moments ago...
Let me know if you see an error in this line of logic, or if it's sound.


Consider that a large portion of marijuana consumers are the jobless, the poor, the ghetto population, the depressed.

Consider further that the lack of economic stimulation (i.e. spending, liquidizing wealth, etc.) feeds the layoffs, feeds the depression, increases the population of the ghetto.

Consider that our budget deficit is in part due to the lack of taxable income, which will only worsen the more people are laid off.

In other words, our crap economy situation is self-perpetuating. The more people get fired from the lack of taxes, the lack of stimulation, the lack of money, the more people will be UNABLE to PAY taxes, contribute to stimulation of economy, and have money. Essentially we're feeding the cycle.

Now if we introduce legal marijuana into the equation, what can we get?
More poor people will buy cannabis. More demand for cannabis increases the need for a larger supply. The need for a supply increases jobs. The more jobs we have the more taxes are paid. The more marijuana purchased, the greater the economic stimulation. The more economic stimulation, taxes paid, and job increases = better economy.

I'm positive I'm not the first person to think this up, I'm also pretty sure Bill Maher has mentioned it as well, but hey, put it in perspective for the rest of us! Additionally, I'm aware this isn't THE solution, but definitely A solution, that's worth looking into. (as we here at MJ.com all agree on already!)
