| The last initiative in Nevada didn't pass. The results were 39% favoring sanity, 61 opposing it. This year the Marijuana Policy Project has gone at it again, but wording the initiative more tightly, increasing penalties for distribution for minors, increasing penalties for killing someone while driving under the influence of marijuana, and finally, the initiative decreases the amount of marijuana that is legal for an adult to possess from 3 ounces in 2002, now to 1 ounce. So the question. Will it pass in 04?

| It had better pass - this is really big. I believe that if a state like Nevada legalizes marijuana, it'll be the first big step to legalization in the U.S. (and North America for that matter). I think it'll cause a trickle down effect: Nevada legalizes, next thing you know, neighboring states like CA (the largest state), AZ, etc. will follow suit(once they realize how much money and resources they can save, even the prejudice folks will begin to turn around). It's always hardest to be the first one to jump in the pond! So, folks reading this that live in Nevada, you'd better be voting this year. I'll say it again: put down that doobie and get over to the voting booth!!!! |

| As bad as I would like to see it happen the odds are against it. The ONDCP will launch another advertising blitz of pure lies which the public in general will view as the god give truth and they will turn the initiative down. Sorry but the best odds I give of it passing is 35% chance. Hopefully I will be proven wrong but i'm not holding my breath on that one. My .02

BTW, I wouldn't claim that NV is running out of water; many western states have water rights on the Colorado River which is shed by the Rocky Mountains' snowmelt. So, as long as it snows in the mountains, the water will continue to flow. Continued population growth in the SW is going to start draining the take from this river, so you might start seeing tough water restrictions in the desert southwest over the next number of years. well, I'll stop now, this discussion is probably best suited for a different thread... | |

| I sure as hell hope that the nevada citizens vote yes on the subject. It would be such a great step on the legalization process. We have to make sure that we inform as many people as we know about MJ and its purposes so that we can do the same in other countries. |

| I hope it will pass, but I doubt it. People are not socialized enough to realize that marijuana legaliztion is good and will not lead to a break down of society. Too many people have been inundated with anti-marijuana propaganda that it will be a while before something like this is passed. We need to continue to get our message out. Also last time the Drug Czar (illegally) campaigned heavily against this vote, whats to say he won't do it again? |

| logic doesnt work with voters, you need to sensationalize it. like take the ONDCP's narcoterrorism ads and say "yes, drugs fund terrorism. drugs fund terrorism because theyre illegal, like alcohol funded organized crime during prohibition." You can't control the profits from drugs, but you CAN control where the profits go. Your choice, keep drugs illegal and fund terrorism, gangs, organized crime, etc., or legalize and have the local gas station, supermarket, etc. receive the profits. |

| that's thinking! there Virus356 We need more people like you handing out flyers in Nevada and just plain speaking up.. I'm hoping it will pass, like VicFerrari said somebody has to jump in 1st, and actually Alaska has in the past, they too will be voting on making it legal (again). But instead of giving the profits to the local gas station, supermarket, etc, channel those funds into education, welfare reform, better human services...(things that people really complain about) What would be a total coup is if Oregon and Mass get enough initiative signitures to put it on the ballot, and it passed there too. I know I MIGHT be dreaming, But man, 4 states in the same year when GWB would be going out of office...John Walters and John Ashcroft would have coronaries

| All I can say is you Nevada potheads need to f*ckin vote this time, CHRIST you know it would pass if everyone who would vote yes voted! They should do pro-mj ads that are just like the anti-mj ones like Virus356 said, they could explain how they deter funds from gangs and suppliers and reduce crime. If a state can come close to legalization now, it wont be too long before it actually happens somewhere else if not Nevada first.
