| Whilst listening to a radio station earlier today the debate on legalising cannabis here in Ireland came up.With the usual factually crap discussions going on(it will be a long time before the Pot surpasses the drink here legally and socially so my attention stuck to the road before me) somebody mentioned that in Amsterdam the hashbars now cannot sell to anyone from outside Amsterdam/Holland essentially leaving only the locals to enjoy! And people rang in to the show to say that they had heard of this and it was true! What!? So i ask,is there any truth to this or is this a figment of the Irish general publics imagination? Have been before and wanted bring more mates the next time but have to have this cleared up or otherwise the trip won't be quite the trip they will be expecting. |

| I've just sent off a query to Marijuana.com's official representative in The Netherlands. He should be able to tell us what's what.

| From what i understand there was talk of the EU trying to force Holland to change it policy to selling to tourists, it didnt go over to well with the dutch. I haven't seen anything else about it in the news for a couple months last I read France was pushing the issue with little success. |

| If that happened, it would be like we're communists and the USSR has just collapsed.

| I know a guy who was there in late January, and he bought it without a problem. If this law really exists, it's not being enforced. |

The report is absolute and utter nonsense.... there has been some talk about doing a pilot project in Maastricht a while ago, but it hasn't been implemented as far as I know... worst case scenario (though not even that is likely) it will be introduced in a few border cities to stop the thousands of tourists who visit these cities a day. When Justice Minister Donner floated this hot air balloon the Amsterdam city council passed a motion calling on the National Cabinet to legalize production of cannabis and the supply to coffeeshops Since the Cabinet has nothing to say over the Amsterdam coffeeshop policy and the Amsterdam Council nothing over national legislation the status quo, at least where A'dam is concerned, will be continued. [edit:]Check post # 11 in this thread, that was the last thing I heard about the 'plan': http://www.marijuana.com/420/showthr...938#post321938 This one may be interesting to read too: http://www.marijuana.com/420/showthr...ght=Maastricht peace[/edit]

| yea, i heard that the united states was spearheading the request to get the duch coffee shops to not sell pot to non-residents. I guess the U.S. does not want the american public to know the truth about the ("untruths"G.O.-1984 told to us) about weed.] ![]()
