| Federal Medical Marijuana Bill US HR 4272 Medical Marijuana Bill HR 4272 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I wanted to pass this info on. Please take the time, and make a diffrence for all of us. Dad Does anyone remember the Medical Marijuana bill? It's the federal bill that would have disallowed the feds from interfering with state's rights in legalizing medical marijuana. That bill died in committee because WE failed to support it. A lot of sick and suffering people were counting on us, and we let them down. So lacking was our support of this bill, it died incommittee. So, now I want to introduce you to a new bill, one I hope you will throw all of your support behind. This one, also a federal bill, allows patients legally using or growing marijuana to be able to state in a federal criminal court, that what they were doing was legal where they were doing it. Can you imagine being one of these sick and suffering people, probably at the end of your life, and get bused by the feds for something that's not even illegal, and then have to face the same consequences as a street-corner drug dealer? And be sentenced to longer terms than many rapists and murderers, which is what they get to spend their last months on earth with. And, the one thing they could say in court that would save them, they aren't allowed to say right now! Juries are angry after the fact! It would appear that the only ones who don't want marijuana users to defend themselves, are government-employed. So, let's speak up this time and not let this important bill die in committee! Let's contact the committee members and our own Representatives in the House, and let's give them as much logical, educational material as we can, and at the same time, let's ask them to co-sponsor HR 4272! Press release: LET MEDICAL MARIJUANA DEFENDANTS TELL THE TRUTH, NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Raich earlier this year which permits the federal government to continue arresting and prosecuting medical marijuana patients and their caregivers even in states where medical use of marijuana is permitted, U.S. Rep. Sam Farr (D-CA) and a bipartisan group of co-sponsors have re-introduced legislation to that would let medical marijuana defendants the right to tell the truth! H.R 4272, officially dubbed “The Steve McWilliams Truth in Trials Act”, guarantees medical marijuana defendants the right to introduce evidence demonstrating that the marijuana-related activities for which they stand accused were performed in compliance with State law regarding the medical use of marijuana. Moreover, the bill specifically limits the government’s ability to seize assets – including medical cannabis plants! Contact your Member of Congress today! Our letters could possibly bring it back to life, but for now, let's start with setting a goal of contacting as many of the committee members as we can, as well as our own representatives in the House of Representatives, so we can move this bill out of committee and onto the floor for debate and a vote.
