Harder drugs suck and anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete idiot junky. They have no purpose other than getting people spun. So I say
< NO! Harder drugs should be illegal & should stay illegal. >

Ok first i want to apoligize for the length of this post, and also for repeating that was already said. And for brreaking the rules of the board by talking about other drugs, but from reading it many people already have, and its been open for over 2 years so I hope i don't offend anyone.

I've read through this whole post between yesterday and today, and up to that last post by weedzinger(and a couple of others) who just acted totally immature and just resorted to calling names since obviously they have no fact based input to contribute. That I find sad, that supposedly marijuana advocites listen to the propaganda of hard drugs, but condem the proganda of marijuana. And especially weedzinger, who is a moderator here acting so immature... Propaganda is propoganda, it doesn't matter which drug it is.

The other problem I had is all the focus on Opiate and Coca derivitives, and little notice to Methamphetamines and MDMA, at least the Opiate and Coca are derived from NATURAL PLANTS, just like marijuana, Methamphetamine and MDMA are completly chemical, and Methamphetamine is probably more addictive then heroin, and causes more problems then heroin and cocain combined. Yet they give it out to little kids. MDMA i'm not so sure on, since now they are retracting alot of thier so called "Scientific studies" showing how MDMA causes brain damage(in reality they used Methamphetamine and said it was MDMA, reminds me of the "study" of sufficating monkeys with marijuana smoke and then telling the public how dangerous marijuana is, history repeats itself as someone previously stated)and I know people who have used MDMA countless times and are even better members of society then I am.

Cocain and Heroin are addictive yes, but put addiction aside for a moment with considering legalizing, because if it was legal, ,and at a cheap price(which it would be which is already established, I dont see any nicotine addicts out robbing and stealing, and yes nicotine is one of the most addictive substances, and yes alcohol addiction can be fatal)then these people can and will(they have heroin addicts getting free treatements in holland and switzerland like was previously stated, and these people go back to thier 9 to 5's)lead normal lives.

Now on the subject of death, just about everything we buy can kill us if we take enough of it, and if these drugs were legal they'd be no acception, its up to the user to know how much to take and be responsible about it, which would be the job of the educators. I believe that with legalizing drugs we could virtually end almost every death caused by said drugs. Want an example?

Say Timmy uses heroin, he shoots it up and has been using it for a few weeks, he has his dose set out which gives him the high that he wants, but one day his dealer gets arrested, he goes out looking for another, and finds one, since its not very hard to find illigal drugs in most area's, but this new guy doesn't cut up his heroin as much as the old guy, so maybe timmy shot up say 20mg of heroin, and a bunch of crap fillers, but now with the new dealer, he takes the same amount, but ends up shooting 80-100mg of heroin, with little to no fillers, he's now od'd and dieing.

Want a real life example? I don't remember the exact year but there was a drug kingpin who thought it would be funny to cut his heroin with battery acid, hundreds of addicts died.

The same can go for coke, methamphetamine, lsd, mdma, and even weed, because even if you trust your dealer, do you trust your dealers supplier? Or that supplier's supplier? If it was legal it would be federally regulated, and all these deaths would stop.

Now thats not all the deaths right? Because people still die from pure mdma or meth or coke, in recreational doses, why is that? Lack of education, right now with all the propaganda, they say how using MDMA once can lead to death, they don't say that its not the drugs fault, but the fact that the drug makes you sweat alot, while retaining water/urin. Most deaths from X is dehydration or hyperthermia, people dance and don't realize they are tired and need water, but there's also the posibility of over hydration or hyponatremia, when you sweat you lose salts not just water, and if you drink water while losing only salts(since your retaining urin) you can die and it has happened before. This is where education comes into play, teach people safe usage of a drug, no m atter how bad it may be, give the pro's and con's and let the person decide on thier own on how to use it, instead of trying to scare them away from it will work wonders I think.

But there will still be more deaths, like others have said, people just to stupid to be responsible, and then there are the people who just shouldn't be using the drugs, example people with heart problems shouldn't be using cocain or methamphetamine, much like people with schitzofrenia shouldn't be using marijuana(or any drug for that matter) its up to the user to be responsible, and not the government, because as said before they have failed.

Well if you couldn't tell by now I believe every drug should be legalized, even though I am very against Methamphetamine and other stimulants, like cocain and even to an extent MDMA, but I am libertarian and do believe its the persons choice on what they do to thier body, as long as they don't hurt anyone else.

Now to the question of will it ever happen, in america? No I don't think so, I mean this is the country full of people that think Sadam husain was responsible for the 9/11 bombings. Most of the population is immature, arrogant, pompous and completly brrainwashed by the government. If this topic was on any other message board but this one it would be nothing but flames of people calling me a crack head junkie for wanting it legal, even though I've never touched heroin or crack, and probably never will. (Hell we even have a few of them already here....Weedzinger)

And your also missing the point that the federal government would m ake the final say in something like this, and it would never happen. First read my signature, now ask yourselves why drugs became illigal in the first place...was it because of health reasons? No, it was to demonize a minority group, Mexicans and blacks, who became insane and "thoughts of equality with the white man" came with the use of crack and marijuana.

All you people actually believe the government cares about the children, or crime, or the health, they don't or it would have been legal along time ago. They make more crime as its illigal, they make more death and health problems being illigal, and its alot easier for some 12 year old to walk down the street and buy crack now then it would ever be if it were legal.(yes 18 year olds do hang out around to get alcohol, but what adult would buy a young kid crack or heroin? Dealers don't care about ID's, if you have money, your getting high)

I have alot more to say but its already been said, and the post has gone from being just long to rambling, I just agree with everyone that believes it should be legal and what they said about it, specially the stoned philospher and dedbr. Again sorry for the length of the post...and thanks to whoever took the time to read it all.

Edit:I just have to add two things, one to the person who said if it were legal more people would do it at the job because it would be easier to hide, people bring those little silver bottles of alcohol in thier pocket and lace thier coffee with it, which is even worse since ur mixing an upper and a downer(yes caffine is a stimulant)

And to the guy who said he didn't think methamphetamine was a hard drug, what drug are you on? Its one of the most addicting, and one of the only one that has scientifically been shown to destroy your brain by flooding it with dopamine and destroying braincells. Have you ever seen a meth addict?

On the other hand, some harder drugs are just impossible to manage. And thats coming from somebody who has done it all, Jerry Garcia. Another thing he said was that drugs have to be useful to you but you can't let the drug take over. But some drugs you can't fight.
i think that a comment like this is just like those ones we get every once in a while from people who say stuff like, "it makes me feel all woozy so it CANT POSSIBLY have ANY medicinal use for anyone...

and i think it should be shot down, just like those others, too.

all things in moderation.

i honestly think that everything can be used responsibly, if thats what the user desires.

if someone starts wanting a "crutch", theyll use anything...cigarettes, gambling, sex..whatever.

people oughtta start examining the behavior, and leaving the substance alone.

I love seeing people defend harder drugs. I think your a victim of propaganda if ive ever seen one.

Well when your friends start dying from these wonderful addictive drugs and you can only try so hard to stop them. You actually gave off a sense of respect for these drugs, which makes me sick. I will only smoke pot and eat an occasional hallucinagen. If you think you know already how the world would react to legalizing all drugs, then you obviously arent that smart. Yeah! legalize all drugs because Lyte it Up has the answers. Thank you.

Lyte it Up, although you semi sound like you know what your talking about, I would fight just as hard to keep certain drugs illegal, than fight for marijuana decriminalization or legalization.

Lemme ask you this, how many people do you know personally who have died from any kind of overdose?

And just forget the rest of the post, I was pissed because you called me immature for calling you a junkie. You did get quite defensive though?

How does criminalizing the users of "hard" drugs fix the addiction problem?

If these drugs are so dangerous and so deadly, it makes no sense to put them into the hands of criminals for distribution.

I didn't call you immature for calling me a junkie personally, i called you immature because this is one of the best debate threads on this subject that i've ever seen, and you just jumped in calling anyone defending these drugs junkies. Like i said i've never tried heroin or crack or methamphetamines, and probably never will, but its not up to you or the government to decide what people to to themselves, if they want to take these drugs its up to them, no matter how dangerous they are.

I never said i knew exactly how the world would react if the drugs were legal, i just said that it would be alot better if they were, because having them illigal sure isn't stopping use, just increasing death, crime and giving organized crime billions of dollars a year, maybe you should read the rest of my post because i went into alot of detail about it, or maybe you should read the whole thread again, I don't want to turn this into a flaming I liked it alot better when the posts were filled with logical arguments for each side and I'm sorry but "Harder drugs suck and anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete idiot junky." Is not mature at all.

If you don't want them legal then give reasons why you don't want them legal, don't resort to calling names.

There is no perfect answer but ive seen families that were otherwise doing well one parent was sent to prison for many years because of the hard drug laws and not even because of the hard drug he was using. Yet I have also seen hard drug users be very violent and untrustable.... same with legal alcohol ive seen violent users of that too.

I believe in the legalization of drugs because I don't support the state prohibiting and dictating our use of substances. If you commit a real crime, send them to jail but until then lets keep our police free to deal with those real crimes instead of wasting effort on a endless drug war. Tell me how can a drug war be won on a planet with over 6 billion humans and an endless demand? You could destroy the world and all humans that seems like the only way to me apart from worldwide imprisonment. I don't do hard drugs but does that mean I have the right to judge others and say they can't use them, not in my opinion.

Well crap, everyone has that point in their life where they suddenly chance their stance on a certain subject. This is that time for me. My only concern was with heroin because I know what it does to people. It is the drug doing that to the person. Sure, the person choose to use consume it, but you dont know a feeling until after you've felt it. So go ahead and legalize all drugs, I would hate to limit your expanding consciousness. I just dont like heroin, and thats my opinion.
